FYI for people saying we should pay Hakeem to teach Howard if he comes here... already been done. It's up to Howard to master what he was shown.

Love this video because he respects him right up front. Love the comparisons... shows a great chemistry with the two.

sorry, posting again on this video.... but I think Hakeem has got to be one of the smartest post players I've ever seen. Honestly think he could school nba centers today even at his age.... perhaps in a casual half court game without all the running. The things he shows are so practical and tricky, it's really easy to see why people were not prepared to play on his level. He was playing chess while they played checkers.

dude. chill out. Dream works with whomever he wants, he created Clutch City, that's enough for the City of Houston and for Rockets fans.

What was he going to do dude? Turn Patrick Patterson into Tim Duncan?
    no.

exactly. and a lot of it is on the players to take the initiative to learn how to be effective in the post. Some are smart enough, others not so much.

Why isnt Melo joining in as well? and How come hardly any other greats take up mentoring and tutoring once in a while?

Just goes to show the generosity and selflessness in the Dream.

Hakeem could probably charge a million cold per player now. If you're a top player looking to get that last edge, how do you refuse?

Crazy how Hakeem's rep as a post up coach has grown over the years. I can only imagine how he's benefitted from LeBron taking his summer workshop then going on to win the next season.

As far as payment from this article:

    http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/03/...Hakeem-Olaju/landing_heat.html?blockID=678080

"To learn from Olajuwon, James agreed to donate an undisclosed amount to Rutherford's Elite Bahaman Education Program, a charity in which Rutherford brings young athletes from his native land to Houston to attend school with the hope of getting a college scholarship.

In addition to Bryant, Olajuwon also has worked in 2010 and 2011 with Orlando center Dwight Howard, last year with NBA big men Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez and Marcin Gortat and previously with former Rockets center Yao Ming. Olajuwon said he worked with Howard for free the first time but Howard agreed to pay him for the second set of sessions."

Basically Hakeem isn't really asking for payment for himself but rather to donate. I also get the sense that his ultimate goal is to keep the center tradition alive.

Thanks for getting the proof, I was sure that he wasn't charging these guys for his own financial gain but rather having them donate to charity as per his faith charity is an area of major emphasis and with his status and means he has donated much over his life and continues to do so through these player training sessions.

Also Olajuwon made a killing in the real estate game so I don't think he's hard pressed for cash to the point where he has to charge current NBA'ers for his coaching.

Really? I know the housing bust happened and I thought most of his real estate wealth was based in Houston, which really hasn't tanked that much in value. Given that almost everything he buys is cash baseed (Islamic law forbids paying interest) he's also not in a situation where he should be over leveraged either.

But if you know something I don't and he blew $100 Million without overextending himself in investments, that's sad :(

Hakeem is The Dream. I wonder why nobody asks Ewing, Robinson, or Shaq for post help.... :)

I think there must be at least some sort of minor grudge, considering the way he left town. Rockets never should have let him go to Toronto, IMO.

Shaq's go to move was a classic. Elbow to the face, easy layup. Nothing more effective!

Chandler isn't agile enough to do any of Hakeem's spin moves. He would do better just by working on a reliable jump hook.

Amare's main problem is that he's just too beat up. But I can see a better fadeaway jumper fitting into his game. No way he can ever learn the moves and countermoves of Dream. He should probably pattern himself more after Karla.

LeBron shined in the low post in the Finals. He picked up on it in a major way.

And its isnt like players arent using Hakeem's moves with out seeing him. Rondo and Amare use the dream shake in their repertoire.
