Not going after Gasol is the best news ever! I don't care which guy we get as long as it's not Pau and rather stay from Deron and Dwight.

To be clear...the Howard trade (if it happens at all) isn't likely to happen tonight, right?

I mean it seems like we're likely talking about that not going down until sometime in the next couple of weeks, even if we move up tonight and make lots of noise in the draft.

    Right?

I would think that Orlando would want to get thier guys with the draft picks coming from the Rox. Whatever moves the team is going to make, trade wise, is likely to happen tonight. IMO

Sorry, I know it's probably been brought up, but does anyone think perhaps Morey doesn't like Drummond as much as they're saying and he is making (potentially) that pick to trade to Orlando? They'll kinda be looking for a big man, after all.

Orlando is saying it definitely won't happen tonight. If they're at all interested, I guess they're giving DM an idea of which players in the draft interest them.

Morey's not that stupid. If Orlando won't commit by the start of the draft, he'll immediately shift to plan B.

Which is almost certainly Drummond or Meyers.

Exactly. You don't pick players you don't want just for a hope that a team changes their mind and decided to take them off your hand.

Agreed. I guess it is possible that a trade still happens at a later date if the Magic like who we pick, but I just can't believe Morey would be dumb enough to pick players he doesn't want that are hand picked by the Magic unless he had a guaranteed deal. Given what's happened with Howard in the past, you can't chance your future by picking players for a deal that MIGHT happen in a few weeks. If Howard decided to stay in Orlando you'd be screwed. If Orlando backed out you'd be screwed. Etc, etc.

David Baumann: #Magic F @Glen Davis won't back off saying @Dwight Howard will stay in ORL: "I still feel that way... His heart is in the right place."

Man, all this build up and if we don't end up with Dwight or a top 5 guy, it's going to be very disappointing.

I would be very surprised and disappointed if we took Drummond for ourselves, too. He is the complete opposite of "competing while rebuilding" and I'm just not a big fan of project big men. In most cases you either have it or you don't, and if he really had it he'd be the #1 or #2 pick like Dwight was when he came out. For every Andrew Bynum there are several Hasheem Thabeet's and Desagana Diop's.

I would rather keep all the drafts and have a young energetic team than having Gasol...

Would be pretty funny watching the introductory press conference with the 3 new picks and D-Mo all sitting there. The table would look so crowded.

Doubt D-Mo would be there since he was last year.

Yeah but I think they would probably have him there again just for the sake of some publicity. And another chance to ask him about if Dwight Howard can catch him.
