I tell you from experience he will never be quite the same after back surgery. Bucher may be spot on here.

I think the back issues have been kinda ignored here though...

Two areas of concern with NBA players.

Knees and Back. If a player is having problem with either of those you could easily see a huge dropoff. Don't think just because he's Dwight Howard it can't happen to him either.

BRoy was easily looking to become the dominant SG in the NBA for years to come...all that changed in an instant. It could be that we'd get Dwight and he'd become another oft-injured ex-star player...

He may not be ready or....

One interesting thing with his back injury, let's say...he wants a deal essentially to Brooklyn, he'd like to play in Dallas but they have nothing to trade for him...but if Dwight is traded to team he doesn't want to be on right now, do they decide we're gonna take our time coming back from that back injury, who know when he's gonna play for you. Because of that injury, that could be held out there a little bit. We'll see if that ends up being the play if a deal does happen.

Maybe. I sure as heck wouldn't trade the world for him now. I would have before the back injury.

No MD, just a guy who has had two ruptured disc and two surgeries. I am not the man I used to be and my job doesn't involve jumping and running all the time. He may be fine but he is still a gamble.

This. While Pau is much better than Scola, taking on his salary would hurt the team more than his play would help. He's the player you get when you need that last piece and can afford it...which isnt the current Rockets.

Exactly! and since Dwight will be a guaranteed rental, his injury concerns alone makes this a terrible move for the Rockets. Ric Bucher was talking earlier on ESPN how Howard's injury can make him miss even up to the first half of the season until he is near 100% Of course it might not be that extreme, but we will definitely NOT get our money's worth considering we might make the playoffs for one season.

This is just Dwight camp trying to scare off the Rockets,I follow Dwight a lot and the doctor who did surgery on his back said that he would be 100% by training camp.Baron Davis had the same surgery and it took him 4months to recover.

He is still injured and a gamble. I am terrified we get him and he signs a max contract that he can't live up to. That would set us back years.

Maybe but he could shut it down just the same and still get paid the same by JayZ.

I would literally rather give our pick away for nothing than get Gasol. at least we'd have a better pick the next year.

Lakers fans are panicking so much. They are begging for the 18th pick and Scola now. Thats is what he is worth pretty much. Although I think he is not worth that much. I think thats overpaying at this point.

Funny how this "extra bad back" stuff come out right before we trade for him. Lets see DWill comes out saying he's staying in NJ, now this. Does anyone else see how they are working to SCARE us off. But guess what? it won't work and Dwight will come here and love it, once he sees how good of a GM Morey is. He's never worked around one of those.
