Yes because GM's are such fanboys of players that can dunk.

We have no room on our roster for 3 young players . They would all end up on the Vipers.

I think other GMs are familiar with every player in the league. It's their job. Also GMs couldn't care less about the dunk contest.

You'd be willing to give up on Dwight Howard because you're feeling impatient? What an awesome GM you'd make.

Dunk contest = player popularity = increased ticket sales/merchandise sales = happier owner

but this whole comparison is on a very minimal scale and doesn't really matter for GM's

I say we keep getting 1st rounders. See how many we can get. Then we develop young talent like baseball. Have a farm system. If they don't produce ,send them down to d league.

I was realy impressed with his handles and open floor game his rookie season...but the team never seemed to try and cultivate that strength. best of luck to Bud

Doesn't really come as a surprise, but it looks like the real problem here is McHale.

Why'd we let Rick go again?

    wish I knew.

I understand and generally approve of the moves rockets have done last few years, but letting Adelman go was one I didn't (and still don't) like.

I get that he wouldn't let Daryl tinker with his staff, but was that control worth the massive head coaching downgrade? I don't think so.

I hear ya.. I don't think anybody really "knows" why and I can't imagine anybody preferring McHale over Adelman.

if I remember correctly Morey rubbed Adelman the wrong way with his heavy handed "suggestions" on which players to use

can't help picturing the portrayal of Art Howe in MoneyBall

Agreed...it's not just one or two players getting their feathers ruffled over nothing, it seems to be a pretty widespread theme...

Hopefully if we get Dwight we can get rid of McHale and hire a real coach. If we're looking to contend we should go all in and do it the right way.

Yeah that had a lot to do with it.

Another reason was Adelman wasn't down with putting that D-league coach Chris Finch on his staff, as he was the one they wanted to groom to be an eventual HC.

It wasn't that, they wanted to fire or demote Elston Turner.

From what I remember Adelman had reservations in returning anyways, so the Rockets made up his mind for him.
