Ya processing power isn't everything. At half the price point pc users get more graphical power, more ram, solid state drives, a more robust operating system....
Mac users get a shiny aluminum case a magnet power adapter with a glowing apple.

Just buy both and get both experiences. I mainly use the Mac when I'm going to class or just doing surfing on my bed. But when I have some real work to do I get on my windows laptop and start pounding away shortcuts.

Jesus H Christ. The only reason Windows is even in the conversation is its widespread use. BUT its widespread use has little to do with users actually choosing windows and more to do with Bill Gates's brilliance as a businessman. Mac OS is more stable b/c it's dedicated software for the hardware.

Try using both Mac OS and Windows and quit being fanboys. One is more flexible and one is more stable and convenient.

I would prolly use Linux if I had the time to sit down and learn cmd lines.

At least us "Windows Fanboys" are smart enough to build our own machine without having to paid for the premium like some illiterate Mac users.

I personally can't stand Apple products. I've used, and programmed in both PC and Mac environments. I just feel so darn restricted in the Mac OS. Perhaps it has changed over the years, but I doubt it has changed all THAT much. Every Apple product I've messed with since then has the same limiting feeling.

I, however, see the draw for those who like Apple products. They are intended to operate within the confines of very defined parameters. ie. not much flexibility or customization. Hence, you get the stability. It's a tradeoff. At the same time, if you know what you are doing with your PC, stability is not a problem. Only when trying to push the limits of your hardware.

Good looking electronics is not something exclusive to Apple products. Go to the Sony store and see the inflated prices of VAIO products.

I also like options. I want a Windows PC? I can choose from so many manufacturers. If I want a Mac OS, I really can only choose from Apple, so they dictate the price.

Mac (and all Apple products) are about fashion. That's it, and that's all. They are marketed brilliantly, and accordingly, people buy them because of the marketing.

I was a windows user for years; I deeply regret that I didn't change to Apple sooner. I could have saved myself from the endless frustration I experienced with a long line of PC's which never lasted long and drove me crazy when I had them. Support is so far and above with Apple, not even close. Dell support can drive you insane. With Apple I am always talking with someone I can understand, not someone in India who doesn't speak English. They may cost more, but they are so worth it.

This. I use both the PC and a Mac at work for web development and find Windows 7 to be much less restrictive and flexible. OSX just seems like a lite version of a larger OS. For example, in PhotoShop (or any other application), go to file->open. With the right mouse button, delete, remove or paste a file from the dialog box. Or mouse over an MP3 file in Win7 and you get a popup with most of the file info. You can use windows 7 completely without a mouse. I hate the resource files OSX leaves on the server. I can go on...

I do like it that the OSX is less prone to virus and the color labels on files is cool.

The graphical eye in both OS's gets old fast and is meaningless to me. The keyboard I have for my PowerMac is horrible. I like my mouse and keyboard to be black, ugly and productive (that's what she said).

As for reliability, they're both are rock solid. Anyone that tells you that Windows 7 constantly crashes is either lying or has hardware issues. I had kernal panics with OSX. It was a motherboard issue and IT replaced it right away.

You can be productive with both. Per dollar, they are so close together, that I think it mostly comes down to preference. I just prefer Windows and not because Bill Gates told me so.

Nope. Not me anyway. I bought it for OSX. I couldn't care less about the actual look of it or anything like that. I care for the operating system and how it runs.. along with the applications that are made for Mac.

That is true. Only reason I bought mine was because I had some excess cash from an internship and to impress the ladies. If you have any worthwhile degree (business, engineering) you should be using a PC for work purposes and mainly using the mac just for fun.

I got a laptop in 2004, replaced it in 2009. And an Apple computer costs a lot more than twice my similar Windows laptop (I never pay anywhere near full price).

I'm so glad I learned to use both OSes when I decided to try a Mac in 2007. I now really appreciate both Windows 7 and OS X, two of the best operating systems we've ever had on the landscape at the same time imo.

Really put the ridiculousness of fanboy wars in perspective since then.

Quite possibly the most ignorant post witty regards to buying computers ever. I sincerely hope no one follows your advice on which computer to buy.
