Can someone start a Drama Queen thread already?

"Whaaaaa, i'm going to stop rooting for this team if they trade for this player or that"

Just stop rooting for them already.

    Jesus christ people.

The thing is...Howard and Dwill want to play together first and foremost. They would prefer to do it in Brooklyn (big time market)....honestly who wouldnt. So yes they are trying to scare teams from making a move for Howard to force his way to the nets.

But if the rockets accquire Howard...that all changes...that means that D will has to make the choice now to either sign with nets without a guarantee they will even get Howard (which wont happen)... sign with mavs or sign with houston.

We have a whole year to appease Howard...whether its pairing him with D will, or Gordon, or Smith or whoever...there will be other big moves.

This is still the best plan...because:
    1) it will allow us to acquire that second elite player (dwill/gordon/smith) that we get to keep whether Howard stays or not.
    2) If all fails we can then trade Howard at the deadline for something more valuable to us than the draft picks we gave up (say for Bynum or Gasol)
    3) Even the slightest chance of acquiring both Dwill and Howard makes this a must do move.

Then once it all comes together it wont matter what the players wanted...they will be fine and happy playing here and winning a championship ; )

I just don't share your certainty that they want to play together at all costs. I also think it's dangerous to bring in a disgruntled, drama-queen who has made it very publically known that he has no interest in being here. Lastly, i am excited to home-grow our team through this draft, and think it will be a better strategy in the long-run. But i also must confess that i am conflicted.

well I think that has been reported wide spread enough from both camps to claim it as fact.

If you are d will. Do you sign with the nets? (no other player on that team or draft pick to improve) , do you sign with mavericks (who now have no shot at howard either and aging dirk) or do you sign with houston (with howard...and quite possibly other big names)

I mean honestly its pretty easy to see what the choice with be with so limited options...with all the reports that they want to play together and how the NBA is becoming a (3 star plan) to compete.

but if Dwight is bolting next year, you don't sign with Houston. That's the problem with your logic, respectfully.

Anything that leads to Gasol as our major offseason acquisition (even including J.Smith) would be a massive disappointment. Gasol and Josh Smith are not going to win you a title, and Eric Gordon is not getting out of New Orleans.

I would not be excited about Bynum either, though you can't deny the talent.

I think all Doc is saying is that we'll be making a big move either way and chances are we'll be happy to have someone who we can build around.

Bynum is a turd, but he's a legitimate franchise cornerstone. A 25 year old 7 footer that can get you 20 and 10 every night is not exactly something to sneeze at.

A dirty old Spaniard with a hurt vagina, on the otherhand...

Not really. If we trade for howard it all but eliminates the nets for the equation of 3 choices....leaving nets. Leaving d will with dirk/mavs or rockets/howard...and I am sure if he signs he will know that howard will resign as well. I guarantee if d will signs howard stays...and he would sign with houston knowing that if you do howard would stay

I dont think this scenario would apply to other elite players mentioned as it involves trading for smith and giving gordon a max deal.

It means the Budinger trade doesn't change the fact that the Nets want to keep Deron and trade for Dwight. Seems like a "duh" comment. Of course Budinger getting traded doesn't cause the Nets to all of a sudden hate Deron and Dwight.

Agree to disagree. I don't think he's a franchise cornerstone at all.

I don't think he's anything more than a slightly better than average center in an era of really bad centers. He'll get you some rebounds and blocked shots, but I don't think he will ever be a #1 scoring option for any team.

Bynum is, at times, the best center in a league that has very few centers.

Sure he is a knuckle head, but he is entering his prime. How can you be upset with acquiring top tier talent? Bunch of girls on this board.

I don't think he can single-handedly carry a team either (cornerstone meaning one of a few important pieces). But he can be a 2nd offensive option and a 1st team defensive player. Weak center era or not, that is something I want on my team. If only he didn't have a terminal case of the stupids.

Who cares if it's a weak era? He's one of the best at his position currently and there aren't really any threats to that. Dominating play is dominating play. Especially from a center.
