We traded one of top 3pt shooters in the league for 18th pick and looking to trade our other picks just to package for a kid named dwight. Its well known he wont resign next season if we get him which leaves us again at bottom of totem pole. Nba players commuicate with each other on a regular basis so no other FA will want to come here knowing dwight is leaving the following season. Even with him we arent contending for the ring and dwight will just walk to whatever team he wants after we fail to make playoffs yet again. Maybe i dont have false hopes like alot here but the FAIL feels strong this year and I will hate to see how bad this team will be at the beginning of the 13/14 season:(

what about we get that kid named kobe? do you think that would make you happier? if not i could always get you a Burger King hawaiian chicken burger with extra onion rings and a kebab. that should sort things out.

You know what I think? It's a League of superstars that select their own Teams... Smaller teams (and yes, that includes the rockets) don't have a lot of options out there. Either go with overpaying second tier players or building through the draft and get lucky (like OKC did).

For teams like the Rockets it's a pretty dull time. So at least we have a GM that is trying like hell to change something. There is a risk, and not a small one - but I'd be rather up and down then stuck in mediocricy for the next 10 years. So yeah, trade Bud, get a high draft pick or get Dwight, put the Rockets back on the map and either have one really interesting season or try to set the team up for the future.

This team was already a failure since they didn't get to the playoffs last season.

What you're calling Chase one of the deadliest 3 pt shooters in the league? Seriously? I think his ceiling is a role player at most. Granted he was a good role player, we started him after we traded Battier away and he didn't produce as we hoped he would have.

Plus we can always draft another shooter, they're a dime a dozen. It's asset collecting time!!

I can understand why people feel this way. The Rockets have been thwarted in their efforts to make the big deal for a few years in a row now. So I have no problem with someone being jaded to the point of thinking that Morey's efforts are all in vain and will ultimately backfire.

The only thing I would remind you of is that even if Morey ultimately can't get Dwight here, the one thing he has shown a knack for is getting contributors with low first/2nd rd draft picks.

Though I love the trade, Chase IS one of the deadliest 3 point shooters in the league, he just isn't consistent. Chase shot 40% last season. This factors in his ususal first half of the season of shooting 28%. Once he began hitting his threes midseason, one might argue that chase should have replaced Parsons in the starting lineup.

Is there a better shooter in the last 30 games of the seasson?

It's sad how determined folks are to hate on the front office - how about you hold off until Thursday night, if not July 15th to cry about the Rockets failing.

In the meantime, they're demonstrating that status quo is out the window, which is enough to make me happy for the time being.

And yes, I will absolutely take one year of Dwight over 4+ consecutive years of dogfighting for the 14th seed. As far as I'm concerned, it's taking a 2 week long trip to Vancouver and getting a break from the Houston summer.

i didn't know Chase was the focal point of the Rockets, and our future hinged on whether he'd be here or not.

A favorite with fans, as is a lot of the players on the team. But let it go. It was a good trade.

A deep draft -- 3 picks, lot of tradable assets -- to get Howard we'll have to overpay and may not be able to keep him. Think longer term. Look at SA -- yeah, they have Duncan and got him in the 1st round -- but Parker was the 28th pick and Ginobli came in the second round. SA has been patient. You get a coach here who can coach young players, patient ownership, etc., you've got a shot. Right now the Rox are playing slot machine mgmt -- shuffling players in and out, hoping that they suddenly jell. If they don't, then shuffle again -- without even giving time to see how it pulls together.

And by the way -- the superstar system has ruined the NBA -- no one outside of the cities who play in the playoffs cares or watches. What had been a reasonable sidebar -- the Magic v Byrd type thing -- didn't overshadow the team matchup.

We need a SG/SF now and losing Bud kinda sucks... BUT you are overrating him by saying he's a top 3pt shooter. Terrence Ross can replace that Bud brought for the team and bring more to the table than what he did too. Trust me you'll like Ross more than Budinger. That is if the team doesn't pass on him in the draft...

And season 13/14 is more than a year away. A lot can happen in that time. Lets say we actually get lil Hakeem in a trade. He can be flipped at the deadline for something of value if it comes to that. We rebuild through trades and FA signings. Muray be collect those assets.

Every risk you take has the ability to fail, but taking no risk is certain failure.
