    If we end up with Pau Gasol out of this, while losing more than one pick, and multiple players, I will have lost all faith in Morey.

    A chance at three picks in the draft comes along once every, what, ten years, if you're lucky (based on the Rockets history). Three picks in a very deep draft is something that is a rarity. You don't blow your team up to get a good big man that will give you, at most 3-5 years of decent production, when you can draft 3 good players, or send one of two of those picks off for a younger all-star-type player, that won't cost you half of your starting line-up in addition. You swing for the fences with 2 (top 14) or 3 picks, and build through the draft that way.

    This. If I were a betting man I'd put my money on some sort of 3-way deal w us getting pau and then turning around and signing Gordon.

    And i would not be happy about it.

    I think will throw up if we use our assets for Pau, Smith and Gordon!!!!
    They would all be improvements but I seriously doubt we would be mch of a contender.

    I like J smooth but I want Dwigt with him!!!

    I can't believe such general statements from Doc get this much run. No matter what happens people will say "is this what Doc was talking about? It makes sense now!"

    Yea I was dreaming that too. While I haven't been on board with the 1 year DH rental, IF we could pull that off then even I would be happy. It is possible: Picks + Martin + Dalembert = Howard. Pick? + Scola + Patterson = Smith. Sign DWill but DWill will have to take less than max because we won't have that remaining. We'd be about 4 million or so shy based on my rough calcs and there wouldn't be too much more we could let go. But that would give us:

    Howard / Camby?
    Smith / DMo
    Parsons / Morris
    Lee / ?
    DWill / ?

    It might take a couple of years to gel and fill in the holes but that is a game changer.

    So we may come out with a nice draft haul (mentions Ross and others) and D-Will? That wouldn't be too bad IMO.

    Wow it's been some time since we heard from ya Doc Roc. Glad to have him back that's for sure.

    Just heard Chris Ford on ESPN radio... The rockets came up as the 3rd questions about the draft.

    I think he had the most intelligent take:

    Said likes what morey is doing...that howard doesnt want to come to houston, and that his camp has made that clear to houston.

    But that they will be able to trade for howard and sign a max free agent like d will ( or gordon of that doesnt pan out)... and have a 6 months to try and sell him on the franchise.

    Worst case scenario is that at the trade deadline they realize hes not staying, and they can then trade him for an asset that is more valuable to the team than the drafts picks and lowry would be. (such as for bynum or gasol maybe?)

    Overall nice take ... clears up a few questions that are presented here, and that we definitely could acquire D will...and that is part of the plan.

    says he believes howard will be traded and that it will be to either rockets or blazers.

    explains why havent heard much talk about lowry for the no 6.


    We can trump their offer right?

    If we got say 5 and 8 or 5 and 10. or heck even 8 and 10 and included our other young studs like morris and or pat?
