Just seems so dirty for Dwight to continue to reject the team his mentor built a legacy with.

However, I did watch Wade closely while he was the Cowboys' coach and I must say that those here and in the media who are already spinning this as a good thing because of his record as a defensive coordinator are setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. The Wade they are getting is not that same Wade as his teams have gotten worse as time passes.

This is a no chance of success scenario: they simply don't have the personnel to play the 3-4 - not on the DL or at the LB & CB spots. Look at how poorly the Cowboys performed on defense under Wade with far superior personnel yet the Texans' company line would have us to believe that he can turn things around in a year with this group of underachievers. Well, good luck with that one. McNair just made a classic Bud Adams' type decision so I expect the results to be also in the classic Adams' mold (MAJOR FAIL). I see this move setting the Texans back three years as once Kubiak get axed next year, it will take the new coach another two more to right this ship - if it's still a ship by then.

"No chance of success" isn't predicting a flop?

Well, his prediction of a crappy defense and Kubiak being fired sure were flops. Ignore the Dallas homer, no matter how much he swears he's not one.

At that time, I did not see how they could make the switch from that 4-3 to a 3-4 that quickly particularly with Mario who I just didn't consider to be a viable 3-4 OLB. And the Cowboys did crash and burn running Wade's defense with a far better roster than what the Texans trotted out. Said Texans defense had indeed underachieved even after all of the attention that had been paid to it by Kubiak. But mainly, I was deeply suspicious in that I saw this as some sort of backdoor move to replace Kubiak with Wade which I did not want - he's just not head coach material. I was very suspicious when Bum publicly praised Kubiak and next thing we know, Wade is onboard. This reminded me of the same thing that happened with the Oilers and I have been burned by Bud Adams so badly that I am distrustful of moves like these. It does remain to be seen if Wade's history repeats itself here in Houston. For their (Texans) sake, I hope not. It is nice to see folks happy about them for a change.

Not a Dallas homer you dimwit. I grew up in segregated Houston near the FM 1960 area. My family has deep roots in Houston, Galveston & Ft. Bend County. My brother, mother and grandparents are buried at Paradise Cementary North. The first baseball game I saw was the Colt 45s. My uncle took me to my first Oiler game at Jeppensen Stadium and my first Rockets game was at Hofheinz Pavilion. Even though I now live in Dallas, I am indifferent to the Rangers, somewhat receptive to the Mavericks (I find Cuban's antics entertaining) and smirk at the Cowboys every chance I get (the arrogance of Jerry Jones and the Cowsheep is stifling). I would rather be back living in Houston but it is what it is.

This my friend, is a Rockets thread. Texans have their own thread. Have your debates there.

There's something to be said about gambling on a superstar this year.

The allstar game here will bring out the best of the city. Plus the improvements to the arena for the allstar game will make TC a more appealing place to play.

There's no better year to try and make an impression on players who thinks they don't want to stay. Not that the 2012 allstar game helped Orlando, Howard make think Houston is a certain way and that could change.

Possible to get Dwight and then, based on his desires for the seasons beyond 12-13, ship him to a city of his choice for other players?

Morey has to take chances like this and hope that he can convince Dwight to stay....we are not going to get a difference maker at 14, 16 or 18, those guys are generally marginal rotation players, and we still have Morris and DMo as new players this year....

We have enough young players and not enough playing time to go around.

    Go get us Dwight.

Aldridge is annoying me greatly. Somehow seems like he is trying to endear himself to the Lakers management.

The push comes despite the fact that Howard appears to have no interest in staying in Houston beyond next season. But the Rockets, who are flush with potential salary-cap space and could sign another star to pair with Howard, appear willing to take the gamble. Sources said the Rockets have yet to engage Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, on the idea of playing in Houston. If and when they do, one of the sources said, it would be made clear that, even if the Rockets were to win a championship, Howard would still intend to become a free agent next summer. Nonetheless, the change in the Magic's front office could be playing a part in Morey's newfound aggressiveness. Sources said new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan is well aware that Howard likely needs to be dealt, and Morey is well aware that Hennigan would be looking for a laundry list of assets in return. Meh, if we win the title with him and he leaves, he'd look like an idiot. Houston would get what they want.
