if we can manage to get howard, josh smith, and tyreke all on the roster together....that might be the lowest bball IQ lineup in league history..
Lots of thunder and no rain on the west side of houston right now...i hope that's not foreshadowing of draft night.
Most people here probably feel like kids at christmas. And like many of those kids, most people here did nothing but b**** all year because they didn't want to wait for christmas to get their toys. It continues to blow my mind how few fans recognized the value of great contracts, draft picks, cap space, trade exceptions, etc. in a league with hard salary cap. People who would rather whine for months on end about how we need to tank, because everything Morey has stockpiled couldn't possibly be flipped star players.
yeah, i whined like a little b**** because from the time i was 6 until i was 21, i watched my favorite basketball franchise make the Finals 4 times and win it twice. i won't apologize for being disappointed in the last 15 years...because they mother falcon pale in comparison to what i knew of this proud franchise the 15 years prior. get dwight. make a run. be interesting. stop being lukewarm...be hot or cold, but not lukewarm.
You and Aelliot are my favorite posters on the board. You express my feeling better than I ever could.
My point is, if people like you got your way, we would be in position to do anything. The whole "only 2 years past Tao ming era is bull****," is bull****. In 2 years, Morey put all of these assets together. We have obviously been working towards this type of situation. And lets not start with us poor Rockets fans who have only held up 2 championships.
This thread is awesome. It started off with an apt literary reference to what Morey is trying to pull off, and now MadMax is dropping equally fitting biblical allusions on us. I completely agree by the way. The most important thing for this team is to stop being mediocre and playing it safe. Doing so has caused the Rockets to consistently have no chance of winning a title or moving beyond what they currently are. The Howard deal will either make them competitive for a title again or will end disastriously and the team can actually re-build. And most importantly, gutting the team of its depth will allow Morey's truly greatest strength as a GM (the finding of solid role players) to shine once again. Who knows, maybe Marcus Morris doesn't suck -- we just can't tell because of all the redundancy ahead of him on the roster.
If people like me got their way? Who are you? Do I know you? Do you know what "my way" is? The 2 championships were great...they were a lifetime ago, too. It's the futility of the last 15 years of managing to win exactly one playoff series in a league where more teams make the playoffs than don't that irks me.
This is the most positive news I got from the past week or so from this board. I miss the ambience of the place.
