    Houston owns Dallas' first round pick next year so I think this would allow them to trade all 3. I'm not sure if a heavily protected pick counts though.

    If we get Dwight, say bye-bye to Goran. Imo, Deron is a Rocket if Dwight comes.

    Yup. That's why most NBA draft pick trades don't become official until after the selections (see Rudy Gay in Rockets' hat, for one example).

    You can draft a player for a team and then trade the rights to the other team.

    Right in theory, wrong in application.

    Yes, the Rockets can not trade picks in consecutive years (more correctly, must have 1 first round pick in the next 2 years), but as soon as the Rockets complete these picks, they will look forward to the next 2 years.

    We owe the Nets a pick, and thus can not trade future picks easily (can say something like 2 years after fulfilment of the NJ obligation), but we can trade the rights to any and all of the players we pick on Thursday. We don't have to hold onto any of them.

    What would happen is the Rockets would pick on behalf of whatever team(s) are acquiring the picks, and then trade the rights. This happens frequently, every year.
