And maybe it's just me but Evans could be one of the best, if not the best, sixth man in the league.

If we could flip Lowry and two mid 1st rounder for the Kings 5th pick and Evans this would be as big a get as we got earlier today after flipping Budinger for the 18th pick. We would still have the 18th pick and Martin to use as a starting point for Toronto's 8th pick. If we do end up making the deal with Sacremento and follow it with the Toronto deal I just mentioned (adding to it if needed) then we not only get our two top 10 picks Morey covets for the possible Howard deal, but we also have a great insurance policy in Evans in case we can't get Deron to sign as a FA.

I will be hoping that the proposed Lowry, 14 and 16 for Evans and 5 go through as should all of us because that move makes our team that much better and gives us more ammo for any future deals Morey could be looking into.

I don't think he has the mindset to be a productive sixth man. He would tend to be more like OJ Mayo in the sense that he wants to start and will eventually sulk a little because of his role. Personality wise I just see him as more of a Mayo type personality than a Harden or a Ginobili personality.

How Many Picks Can Rockets Trade?

How Many Picks Can Rockets Deal?
by Net Income on Jun 26, 2012 1:38 PM EDT in 2012 Free Agency

A league source familiar with the CBA notes that while the Rockets now have three picks and may be seeking a fourth in this year's draft, they won't be able to package all of them in a deal for Dwight Howard. What's standing in their way? "You can't trade picks in consecutive years," the source told NetsDaily.

There is a way around it, the source noted. The Rockets could work a trade with the Nets, permitting the Rockets to reacquire their 2013 first rounder. "Because [Brooklyn] has Houston’s first round pick next year, they are not allowed to trade away all three (or four) picks for a player ... They need to hold onto one." And it doesn't seem likely the Nets would be willing to help the Rockets get into a better competitive position re: Howard.

I believe you can't trade consecutive year first rounders.

They will probably just have Magic trade there pick with like top 20 protected for 2013 or something like that.

The Rockets can also make a trade for one of the really crap picks, say OKC's 1st round pick and keep that to say they aren't trading consecutive years. Whatever else one may say about Morey, he circumvents the rules as well as any in the business. There's no way such a thing will stop him from offering as much as possible to the Magic.

What I would give to be able to shadow Morey around a time like this. I bet the learning experience would help in all walks of life.

Easy way around that is to get the deal worked out but you can't pull the trigger to draft day. Say we get the #5 pick somehow. We confirm with the Magic they want the trade, then we ask him who they want us to select with the #5 pick. We select that player having thus used a 1st round pick this year. Then we trade that player along with the rest of the picks/players for Dwight.

There's an easy way around this. You agree to the trade in principle, let the other team make the picks and once the picks are officially announced you announce the trade.

You can't trade FUTURE consecutive year first rounders,

meaning, you can't trade all of your 1st rounders this year unless you have one next year. But when this year's draft is complete, then you CAN trade next year's pick, as long as you have one for the year after.
