Hate it or Love it: We saw a unmotivated Dwight this past season, the dude disregarding overall skill set is the best C in the NBA. Please keep in mind, we are emerging from a lockout shortened season. Keep in mind that Stern, as owner of the NBA(and New Orleans Hornets) blocked a potential trade to one of the NBA's marquee teams. Keep in mind Stern did orchestrate the Clippers trade too. Keep in mind, no matter the media says, that current Dallas team is old and overloaded with horrible contracts. Keep in mind, no matter what the media says, ouside of DWill, that Nets teams is atrocious. Keep in mind, that Houston does have a ALL-STAR game this February. Keep in mind, Courtney Lee is on this Rockets team.

I'm convinced Deron and Dwight outsmarted Stern at his own game.

well its a business, what did budinger expect. if he was so keen to be valued by this team, why doesnt he take a paycut and sign a 3mil per year 5 year deal.

next year if some team offers him the mle hes out of town on the first plane out of houston

The Miami Heat showed us that when you have the stars, role players will leave money on the table to join them. Role players are a bunch of whores.

Even if the Rockets don't make another move at all.... this trade at least opens up the backup SF spot for Marcus Morris.

Although I will always root for the Rockets first and foremost, I will be watching more Timberwolves games.

Well, this means they have faith in Morris to back-up Parsons next season or they trade/draft a (starting) SF and trade Morris in another package ... DM is working, guys!

Not just role players... if I'm not mistaken the three stars took lower salaries as well, setting a dangerous precedent of players manipulating a teams payroll.

Yeah it's funny how that works when the Rockets have a team full of role players. Role players don't exactly have the greatest job security. ;)

Nope. Morey is the only GM in the history of GM's who has traded a role player!

Pretty much the same for every team. How many people, especially non-stars, really spend their entire career with the same team? I guess the most common type of player that do are scrubs whose NBA career lasted a single year or less.

Nobody is safe with the Rockets because there isn't an all-NBA type franchise star player. There is not one untradeable player among the lot. But there is amazing depth from top to bottom on the Rockets. Other teams need depth and the skill that the Rockets have on their team.

I think Budinger is being irrational when he says his comment. Yao Ming was as untradeable as they come.

The Rockets made a firm commitment to Yao Ming. They made a commitment to McGrady, before he disobeyed them and got the surgery - that took away his quickness (at that point he became a role player). If McGrady would have dealt with the pain, he'd probably still be relevant today. If McGrady could do it over again, he might listen to the Rockets about the surgery - and deal with the pain.

Role players are a value in the NBA. Teams handcuff their franchises when they over value role players.
