Honestly, if this stuff goes down it's almost got a "Count of Monte Cristo" type feel. Biding their time for years like Edmund Dantes....then engaging in a complicated series of related masterstrokes. Been a long time coming....

It was funny to hear that we turned down the #14 and #16 for a top 10 (likely 9 or 10). Morey must have said, "what? don't bother me; I'll call you if I want to flip your assets in my complicated master plan."
Well put...I sure hope so. I can't wait to see what our roster looks like Friday, and then again after free agency. I think we're finally in a position where there isn't a ton of competition in the market and we have more trade-able assets than everyone.

man, i'm fully expecting/prepared to get flamed, and, believe me, i'm excited about this week... but it seems like i'm the only one who remembers like 8 or so months ago when morey traded away all our assets to build a team of Pau Gasol, Nene Hilario, and Kyle Lowry. it is literally sheer luck/divine david stern intervention that any of this even has a chance of happening.
you're not the only one...i promise you that. i do not and did not want to turn the #assets into Pau freaking Gasol, trust me. but Howard is different. fingers crossed.
well, that kind of goes against the "count of monte cristo...been a long time coming" post that you just agreed with.
I don't necessarily think that Gasol/Nene was Morey's endgame. It was a way to compete now and still have flexibility to go after Howard or anyone else that we wanted to go after -- remember that we only gave up Scola and Martin in that deal. I think you'd be underestimating Morey's intelligence if you think that he thought Gasol/Nene/Lowry is a title contender.
