We'll miss Screech for sure, but that is a great turnaround of a pick! 2nd round pick 3 years ago is now worth a 1st???? That's whats up!
It's more of a gut feeling that concrete evidence. History does tend to repeat itself. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/792823-ranking-the-50-most-lopsided-trades-in-nba-history/page/18
I'd much rather get Smith than Howard - even though Smith's no where near as talented as Howard we'd, of course, have to give up a lot less for Smith and I'm a huge fan of Smith whereas I think Howard's a dikhead.
http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/18...nba-draft-pick (FOX 26) - The Houston Rockets have traded forward Chase Budinger to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 18th overall pick in NBA Draft on Thursday, FOX 26 Sports has learned. "It's part of the business," said Budinger in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "The Rockets want to do something and they have got to pay for it." "It's cool for me too, because I get to go play for coach Rick Adelman again. You kind of know with (Rockets general manager) Daryl Morey, no one is ever a lock with this team. Everybody is definitely tradable. I'm not mad; I was not expecting to be with Houston the rest of my career. It's very rare for people to do that." DD - 2 Quick Questions.. Can you elaborate on your trade thoughts and Are you happy with the trade??:grin:
oh *****... this happened in 1998 nba draft, the rockets have 14, 16, 18.. Bad omen coming 14 Michael Dickerson (SG) 16 Bryce Drew (PG) 18 Mirsad Türkcan (PF)
Excellent observation. Also, the last time the Rockets had three first round picks we would up with Eddie Griffin (RIP).
All while Rashard Lewis was sitting there waiting to be drafted. I still remember sitting in my dad's car listening to the draft on the radio while he ran errands pissed off they weren't taking Lewis.
have to smile about the Morey dig: It's cool for me too, because I get to go play for coach Rick Adelman again. You kind of know with (Rockets general manager) Daryl Morey, no one is ever a lock with this team. Everybody is definitely tradable. I'm not mad; I was not expecting to be with Houston the rest of my career. It's very rare for people to do that."
I think it was a neccesary move. We know what Chase is but we need to find out if Morris is a player and with Chase gone it opens up minutes for him. Marcus Morris has to be loving this move.
I see this a positive for everyone. While I will miss certain aspects of CBud's game, he is redundant in his role, he loves playing for Herr Rick (who no doubt would love to Bud play under him again because he's coachable), and we are re-tooling. Sorry DD, you lost another prize asset. Nothing a good, stiff shot of single malt scotch won't ease.
I don't get the rationale that because Chase was a 2nd round pick, this is a great deal. Parsons was a 2nd rounder last year too, but if we traded him for the 18th people would be calling for Morey's head. Whether or not this is a great trade will depend on what we do with the pick.
