Rockets will pursue Josh Smith if they can't get Dwight

Kind of disappointing, especially for a non-star like Smith.

 

I can't stand watching J. Smith. Has all the physical tools to bang inside but settles for long jumpers all the time. The Hawks forum hates that part of him, it kills the Hawks.

do you honestly think that we could trade for both howard and Smith? If we could and there was Nothing left on our roster...I bet you d will would sign here.

 

From my experience living in Georgia, Hawks fans HATE JSmoov. They believe that Danny Green is going to lead them to the promised land. Not sure how much their new GM values Smith, but would love to see him in a Rockets uniform, especially if he's playing next to a certain coveted big man. Also he is raw in 2k, and that'd be fun.

 

He can't shoot the rock. Im not sure how he would fit alongside Dwight, but I can tell you that your going to need really good PG who can keep the ball moving, and a system that allows for more uptempo play.

If we can't get Dwight then I say we just keep the picks.

This move with be in conjunction with aquiring Dwight more than likely. If the Rockets aquire Dwight alone they will most likely not have buy in from Dwights camp early on, and they may have reservations about Houston even next season.

If you make a move to bring in another all-star like Smith as well then you are sending a powerful message to Dwight and the city. This is an all-in year to win it all.

If Dwight walked into Houston with a bad attitude in that situation then the entire nation will know that he's someone who truely does not care about winning a title. I think he does and the Rockets would have a really good shot at making the finals in the West with a team that looked like this-

Howard, Camby
Smith, Patterson, Motiejunas
Parsons, Morris
Lee
Dragic, ?

assuming Scola, Dally, Martin, and Lowry are all out with the picks.

+ you have the option of making alternate signings in free agency with players like Ray Allen available to fill out the roster.

 

I mean, if the headcases in question can ball out, I'm all for it.

 

I agree, not to mention, I'd rather us draft a young big man with comparable talent that can learn then just go after Smith (who within the last year or two seems to have plateaued) because we want to make a splash.

I like Smith, I'd put him right there with Bosh but just like Bosh, I can't trust a big man that has been able dominate the position in the Eastern Conference would have the same success against the Western Conference, even if the top players are on the decline and only Aldridge and Love are poised to take their spots of the younger crop.

 

Mine as well. We didn't win a damn thing with nice and good character guys!

but, how plausible would it be to acquire J.Smith, D.Howard, AND DERON W. (from FA)?
