The more I watch Drummond .... the more I dont want him. His shot mechanics are horrible , often shooting jumpshots from shoulder level .... thats asking to get it blocked.

I do believe he will be a plus defender as he moves his feet really well .... but he'll be a zero on the offensive end.

I think he maxes out as a Ben Wallace type ..... Not what you want from a top 5 pick.

Give me Leonard or Zeller over Drummond.

I can see that Morey has his exit strategy for getting Dwight Howard. Either we end up with lots of cap space and a few years of high picks, or he flips Howard for something else at the last minute.

My problem with this is, I don't want to see us farting around for a few years. We are apparently in position to come up with a couple of decent picks, maybe more, and still have a decent set of role players, plus excellent cap space.

Let's just go with this. I don't want to see 2-3 years of drama until we have a direction. It took us too long to get where we are now (though I acknowledge that half of CFers don't know where that is).

I think they should do it just to spite him.

I'm fed up with this team finishing 9th, I say we go after Dwight and if he doesn't stay then we re-build from the absolute bottom, not from 9th in the west like we have tried.

Not sure a big three works of two of the three play the same position

Yes, but, one is the self proclaimed Carmelo w/Defense. The other just starts in front of him.

If this stops the Rockets from pursuing a Howard trade, I hope it doesn't also stop them from trying to trade up into two top 10 picks. I viewed the trade attempt for Howard a win win because it was either we make the trades and end up with Dwight, or we don't get Dwight, but have two higher picks with the chance to get talented rookies like Gilchrist, Drummond, Waiters, Ross and Rivers.

LOL at all of this, these egomaniac stars who think Houston is too small for them, and that they'll all be the toast of NY or LA.

The NBA should put five teams in LA, five in NY, and five in Miami just to keep these babies happy - no other teams anywhere else. I guess Boston can keep their team for the sake of tradition, and Dallas can have a team as long as Mark Cuban keeps giving players shoulder rubs and free ice cream.

I'm sorry that Stern didn't keep the union locked out for 2 years to break them. Now all he has is a bunch of stars telling 95% of America that they're too good to live with the rest of us.

I third this motion. Want the trade to do down more than ever now that there is "no chance" he will resign.

When you take the maximum Bird's rights contract at 7.5% raises for 5 years and compound that contract twice (two 5-year contracts) and compare that money to a non-birds' rights 4-year max contract with 4.5% raises for the first 4 years and then add another 5-year deal at the bird's rights max with 7.5% max raises for another 5 years, and then add one more season at the max with the standard 5% new contract raise, the difference in the two contracts over a 10-year period of time is:

    $57 million

Is there any question why Dwight wants to get traded to Brooklyn instead of walking there?

Good post .. I also think he will sign an extension with Orlando now, instead of moving to Houston and proving for one year that he is worth the max.

Just so I'm understanding you correctly....

if Dwight gets traded to Houston...and then decides to walk...he potentially walks away from $57 million??

If that's true, make this trade yesterday.

Dwight is 26 years old. Assuming he comes back from this injury and is still at the top of his game, he will likely still get another max contract in 5 years. This is the potential money loss over 10 years. And this is assuming that at the end of 9 years he is still good enough to warrant a team signing him to a 3rd max contract in the case of the non-birds' rights contract situation since he is losing one year between the two with the first non-birds rights contract being only for 4 years.

How does that number keep growing every time I see it? It started as 20, then 30, now 57? Someone clarify?

Well If since he's 26 a health Dwight could easily get the Max again at 31. Count up the annual raises and that's buku bucks.
