Capologists: What are the new rules for sign & trades?

I know the season AFTER next, a team a certain level over the cap CAN'T get a player in a sign & trade

    What about the other rules?

I have mentioned this before I dont think Dwight wanted to go to the Lakers and to a lesser extent Houston because of the pedigree of centers the two franchises have had.

    lakers: mikan, wilt, kareem, shaq
rockets: hayes, moses, hakeem, yao, (could include deke possibly)

he'd be judged to a much higher standard there than most other franchises, we as fans have been spoiled by superb center play especially over the last 25 years. Howard, is easily the best center in basketball and young but at this point chances are he isnt going to be expanding his game too much. He is still he cornerstone I would like to have on this team to build around dont get me wrong, but I think in Howards mind he would be less scrutinized as a player "not living up to the past" in Brooklyn.

Howard cares about his image a lot - I think IF this happens Morey is certainly going to work his ass off to get the right pieces around Howard to make him stay and if he still leaves then at least the Rockets are finally forced to rebuild the conventional way and would ultimately lead to a better team

I mean this draft is deeper than average but its not like the Rockets are in position to get a top 3 pick - I mean yeah in talks for #5 and #8 but you want a franchise player you more than likely need to be picking in the top 3. There are always exceptions of course, but i would be far more comfortable not pursuing a howard trade if the Rockets had made deals to get like the #3 and #10 pick

#5 and #8 may not do much other than another 14-16th place finish in the west

At this point, I cannot blame superstars for not wanting to come this mediocre team for some reason, maybe it's radioactive.

It's silly to want a player who doesn't want to even suit for this team.

He might try to hold out, if he doesn't get his way. Most of all, it's toxic waste asset of sorts. NO team is going to trade for player who is going to leave at the end of season. Why would any team, besides LA, Brooklyn, New York, or etc. do that, when Howard is obviously hitting the door.

This scenario keeps getting more weird and Twilight Zone-like with each passing day.

I really can't blame Howard much for wanting to bite a fresh piece of the Big Apple. Where he would be THE big ticket in an emerging market. If I was in his shoes and had no hometown ties, I'd be tempted to go there too. I'd ask why is Hakeem and everyone else allowed to carve out their legacy, but I can't carve out my own? I'd rather build my own house than rent out someone else's

Again like Lebron's questionable actions around his descisions, its the way Howard is going about it that isnt agreeable. Why stick around and destroy Orlando getting people cleared out, just so you can't bolt anyway. Just wasting everyone's time.

He's a weakling if he's afraid of being compared to Chuck.

Besides an emerging market in Brooklyn, what is there on the Nets?

I just said I don't blame Howard for wanting to go to the Nets. But its nothing to do with mediocrity, cuz the Nets the past 5 seasons are deplorable. If Howard knows he can make a wretched basement team better with his presense alone, he'd be stupid to think he can't turn a mid-level team like the Rockets around.

Also Howard knows if he went to the Lakers and he actually SUCCEEDED leading them to a title or close to it, then he bolted for the Nets anyway, he'd be seen as a shallow player. Howard is just not being a professional, he's being selfish.

But its a selfish game all around, and its either him or the owners being sleezes anyway, might as well look out for yourself.

Howard should want to come to Houston. Hakeem will take him under his wings full-time, and maybe he'll reach his potential.

I dont think you guys understand how unintelligent, ignorant and gullible Dwight Howard is. He is CLUELESS. ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS to how the CBA works. He doesnt know JACK about opting in/opting out and he makes decisions based on pleasing those close to him

You want to know why hes linked so strongly to New Jersey? Its because of his agent Dan Fegan's association with some companies in NJ

    http://truebluenation.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23076-who-is-dan-fegan/

Dwight doesnt know a damn thing. Hes a big kid. A man child

Hmmmm, right ... Hakeem took Lebron also under his wings during the NBA finals and in the offseason (low post moves). Can we trade for Lebron now?

If #2 is a real possibility, why would we waste our assets (including picks) on Howard? Is it because Morey can trade him to a suitor before the end of his contract with us, just in case #2 turns out to be true?

Score Deron and Dwight for multi-year deals. If that's what they both want, let's trade the farm and see what we have left!

its because #1 is obviously more important to him .. thus outweighing #2...

Another half-season rental! This time, one he likes.... although we would get way less than we would pay for him in the acquisition phase.

    PLEASE FORGET IT!

And because no one actually knows whether he still believes in #2 one year from now. Given that human beings change their mind probably hundreds of times each day, this would exactly be shocking.
