Who else is a free agent next year.
We rent him for a year. . . and then get some sign and trade for someone who
    wants to be here

So you are saying that if Dwight gets traded to Houston, Deron may resign in Brooklyn and just wait for Dwight?

As for Dallas, if Deron signs there for max contract, with their existing obligations, Dallas will have no less than $60 million guaranteed money for for the 2013 season. There is basically no possibility for them to open up enough cap room to pay Dwight as a free agent in 2013. Even amnestying Haywood and trading Marion for no money in return won't do the trick given the cap holds for empty roster spots.

big mistake to trade for a star player that doesn't want to be here and will be able to leave pretty soon afterwards as a free agent.

I agree. Since Dwight is acting like a girl, we should treat him like one.

    No means yes.

If the Rockets have the chance, then I would still 100% trade for Howard anyway.

Nothing wrong with trying - but the constant chatter heard from there about almost getting player X, or being in the final 2 for player Y is a bit much.

Sort of getting like Peter crying wolf, in all honesty.

We can start fresh again in a year if we trade for Howard. Our team is deep. Just missing that star. If Howard bolts, I don't think we would be too far off from where we are now. The draft picks are awesome. I would like to see them kept (if had). But this franchise is starving for a national superstar. Dwight Howard is that exactly. He will bring in more fans this season. Les is already know to want to forego the rebuilding process. He would most definitely choose the proven Dwight Howard over a couple of picks with very high ceilings.

    Muhaha

I can guarantee you Dwights next move is to make Orlando think he might stay so they wont trade him then drop the bomb at the deadline in a last ditch effort to get traded to NJ.

    What a greedy ass ****er.

I can't wait for the Rockets to piss in his cereal.

I think you mean the Moses/Sampson/Olajuwon/Yao legacy.

Cannot happen. First, there is no more NJ. Second, if Dwight is not a Net by mid-July, the Nets may very well lose Deron, too.

If Dwight really didn't want to be here or ever thought of going Lamar Odom on us, he would have said it himself. Bottom line is, he hasn't and so when he is traded here there is a chance he could save his reputation by saying all these "rumors" about him not wanting to be here had been all false.
