Or you could say ... "Let me introduce you to Andrew Jackson".

Didn't Michael Moore rent a boat and took several American citizens to Cuba for some medical attention in that one documentary? He had no problems then.

The US policy on Cuba is embarrassing and anachronistic. It's akin to maintaining a blacklist on writers in Hollywood who have communist friends.

    Also...Havana Club is good rum.

I have been, in 2003. I did meet some Americans there. I flew through Mexico City back then. I have some pictures somewhere, I'll look for them. It was definitely an experience I would not want to miss. I went to see a concert of Buena Vista Social Club in the Hotel Nacional, with Pio Leyva, among others (Compay Segundo had unfortunately just died a few months before), drinking Mojitos and smoking cigars. Pretty amazing. The country was extremely poor. The Americans who were there told me it wasn't really a big deal, they also came through Cuba or Canada.

It's not a big deal going there but be smart about it. Don't be bringing back boxes of cigars and bottles of rum. It's not worth the fine. And be prepared to bargain like crazy cuz ppl will try to rip you off left and right.

I'm going through Mexico City as well. Flying to Mexico City from DC on Friday, overnight layover in Mexico City that night, and flying to Havana on Saturday.

The only thing I'm concerned about is going through customs on the way back. When I fill out the US entrance form, I'm planning on just writing Mexico as the destination I visited (Cuba will stamp a separate piece of paper for me, not my passport)--but won't it look suspicious with two Mexican entry stamps and no other entry stamps in between?

Oh well, my passport is full of stamps already. The buddy I'm traveling with, though, is using a brand new US passport.

Nothing, I just got back the other day.

For anyone that's ever been interested in traveling in Cuba, you should definitely go.

    Fascinating place to visit.

Here are some pictures I took for anyone that's interested.

    Thanks man.

You can fly from Cancun to Havana roundtrip for around $350 on Cubana Air (the only airline that flies this route).

Not sure how safe I feel flying on foreign airlines.
