    This situation reminds me of the Gasol "trade." Everyone on CF going crazy, thinking of different lineups, claiming that the rockets will become contenders, only to be disappointed. Hopefully Morey can stop coming "close" and can actually pull it out. The Gasol situation wasn't his fault but he needs to pull something off. We are all tired of the 14th pick.

    I'm on my phone, which makes it difficult to navigate, so excuse me if it has been mentioned. One thing to take into account is that once in Houston, Howard would get significantly more money to resign here than through a sign and trade under the new CBA.

    What he says, and how he will act when forced to leave money on the table aren't the same. Obviously some people will leave cash on the table, as in Miami. But my first impression of Howard is that he isn't that type. I mean, the whole thing with the option last year was about keeping alive the posibility of the largest possible contract in NJ. If he were inclined to take less, he would have just opted out and taken less cash this offseason.

    I'm all for doing whatever it takes to get Howard. Give him a year here and at worst S&T at the end of the year if he hates it so much.

    Then you can do a real rebuild job but at this point this is what we have been trying to get for the last 3 years. It's time to make a real move.

    I would be happy with Drummond. He has tons of potential and is very young. With Dwight's back issues, I would not risk it especially since he will be a more than likely be a one year rental.

    That's very similar to the 2009 Orlando Magic team that Dwight went to the Finals with:

    Howard=Howard
    Parsons=Hedo
    Gasol=Rashard Lewis
    Dragic=Nelson
    Lee=Lee

    Drummond's rise to stardom has a lower probability of happening than Dwight deciding to stay here. People are foolish.

    No one at either of the top 10 picks will ever have a season half as good as the One year Dwight would come here!!!!

    I say roll the dice! If he leaves then great it's not like we are giving up alot from what I've been reading it seems like other than the draft picks Lowry, Martin and dalembert will probably be gone swell and they didn't eve hardly play last year!! Get it done morey!!!!

    Yes, the position to draft a Top 5 pick I was referring to would start in the 2014 draft. A whole season after Howard leaving would have to play out for the team to be that bad. The 2013 draft would not be a reflection of the ashes the Dwight Howard trade would have created because he still would impact the 2012-2013 season. It would be a long drawn out process but at least it is a new direction.

    Houston
    In
    5 + Salmons or Garcia
    Out
    Lowry

    Kings
    In
    Lowry + 8
    Out
    Evans + 5

    Raptors
    In
    Evans
    Out
    8

    Trade Martin, Patterson, Dalembert, pick up some FAs and you will have completed Part 1 of the rebuild.

    Guys, if we Get Howard, we at least have a direction. At least we wont be floating anymore.

    If Dwight stays, we are trying to build a contender

    If he leaves, we rebuild and get the 1st pick in the 2015 draft and get Andrew Wiggins

    Meh, if the Rockets don't sign Deron then he's likely as good as gone.

    Drummond is only 18, and one of the more agile centers to come into the league.

    I'd rather bet on Drummond becoming just a good center that could fill that spot for years to come than Dwight being here one year.

    Plus Dwight has started to have back problems...I don't want to deal with that again.

    We can always refer him to McGrady's back doctor out in Waco, right? :grin:

    Hopefully, the build-up to Thursday is worth the wait and the Rox fans are rewarded with something for the past three year's worth of frustration!
