Say what you will, but give me Cousins over Howard in a year or two.

Howard is ridiculous overrated. What good is a super star that becomes a liability in close games?!

For the last 17 years since our last finals appearance we've been in hope mode. Blow it up, follow the OKC mode and stop with the quick fixes, which never seem to work.

Morey has done an awesome job of trying to get the superstar. Tmac is his lone example. Since we pay for results and not just trying, please allow him to leave graciously after this year. The Magic are starting over and they have Dwight Howard. Wake up Htown!!!

Wouldn't it be awesome to end up with Gasol after all this talk about Dwight?

Getting Dwight would put us on the map again. No one wanted to play for the Nets before they traded for Deron, now they're Dwight's preferred destination. You think they like New Jersey, or Brooklyn, over Houston? No, they just like the idea of playing together. Getting one could be the domino that sets off a number of moves towards being a contender.

Or we could tank. That works too.

This team now has a pretty good record against the good teams in the league over the past few seasons. They don't need Howard to make the team better.

All I have for right now, is on the Lakers-- http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....d-signed-with-magic-to-avoid-trade-to-lakers/

Nothing really absolute or really credible on Detroit, but apparently Otis Smith was shopping him there according to Jarrod Rudolph(who broke the news that Dwight would be opting in): From what I understand, Otis was stripped of trade making powers around the deadline after he called Detroit or something along those lines shopping Dwight.

And nothing on SAC. Not sure why I put them in there?

    My bad, ha.

I'm sure Cuban does like Griffin, much like Morey liked Chris Bosh. There are a lot of players people would really like. Whether it's realistic is another discussion. I don't think it depends much on CP3 at all, at least as far as Dallas is concerned. Griffin is a young star and the Clippers completely control his rights. The only chance Griffin goes anywhere is if CP3 opts to jump ship. In that scenario, even if Griffin plays hardball and asks to leave and Sterling gives in, they're not going to let him walk for nothing. They would trade him for young assets, of which the Mavs will have none.

The most realistic Cuban plan, if he gets Deron, is to load up on two-year or shorter contracts (that gives them a better chance at some of the vets than insisting on one-year deals) and hope Deron can elevate Dirk back to elite level for the next two years. Depending on vet additions, that could be enough to contend. From there, re-sign an aging Dirk to a cheaper contract to finish his career and THEN seek to add your next superstar. If Deron, Dirk, and Superstar X happens, it won't be until the 2014-15 season - and hopefully Dirk has something left in the tank. I think that's the calculus for Cuban, at this point. It could work with some luck, but it won't involve Howard due to the timetable.

the best thing is about getting howard is that we don't have to worry about another super team like the heat

I gotcha. I would be just as excited as the next guy to have Howard on this team but I'm pretty sure within the same 24 hours I'd already be contemplating whether we just threw away our future for a guy who has all public signs pointing elsewhere. And Howard alone doesn't turn this team into a deep playoff run and I'm not sold on Deron being the answer to that until I know the other guys around. We would still need quite a few guys to fill roles.

I'm pretty sure they would like Brooklyn over Houston. Houston is great and all, but seriously, who would choose to come here over living in New York?

Imagine Dwight wearing those ridiculous glasses as he arrives to the podium to talk to Rockets media... would be pretty damn cool right?

Howard = Tmac all over again just say no. OKC has shown us the way!! You draft youth you groom it and become successfull. Trade for Howard does not make us a better team than OKC or Miami and I though the point is to win a Title.

Morey has proven time and time again that he can produce quality role players out of next to nothing. I wouldn't worry too much about that.
