PLEASE stop using this as an example. The Rockets are not going through a sell of the franchise so NO... its not possible to rebuild a franchise the way the SEATTLE SUPERSONICS(NOT OKC) did.

Ask any GM out there whether they would rather have 2 All-Stars in their prime or a crappy team that is trying to luck out in the draft, and see how many would rather have the crap team tanking for luck in the draft.

They did not trade and let walk their two all-stars so they could tank for Kevin Durant. They were going through the sell of a basketball team which led to a financial situation that forced them to move big contracts.

Whether you like Dwight Howard or you dont ( I really dont) the guy is the best center in the NBA. Thats a fact. Yes, its a slight risk if he walks, but if worse comes to worst and he does walk at the end of the year, you know where you are... exactly where you were before. Actually you would be in a better state for properly rebuilding the way Clutchfans want to rebuild through the draft.

Plus, If Morey is able to pull of deals to move down in the draft he's going to do it regardless. There are actually players in this years draft they do like you know that right? When the rumours come out about Dwight Howard being a target for Houston, its likely just there to get more hits on the web. The Rockets are still a long way away from a Dwight Howard trade. Orlando is still likely to spend weeks or even months trying to convince one last time for Dwight to stay.

So everyone just calm down about this. Lets get these draft picks first, and see what happens before judging with fire and brimstone. At least they are trying to do something instead of just sitting around with their thumbs up their A#$.

I've enjoyed winning better than being out right garbage. Enjoyed beating the Lakers and Thunder while I was there cheering my team. Yeah, that was very enjoyable.

From what I see there, they do not have room to fit Howard in there. Perhaps because you did not include Deron's salary included there, not to mention the minimum salary cap holds.

How can we be the laughing stock of the league by drafting, when we were not the laughing stock of the league last few seasons?

Glad you can be satisfied with 3 seasons of mediocrity, and no franchise player to build around

Omg...why did you post that picture.

Only superstars make our jerseys look sick.

My, my, my. If you don't like him that much, Drummond must have a bright future as a superstar given your assessment history, i.e. your HOF enshrinement of Marcus Morris last summer.:)

I think Dwight will request a Jersey redesign as his top priority to resigning with Houston if traded.

We are in a position to do it quicker than that. As long as we draft well (easier said than done I know)

We have an opportunity to get two top 10 picks without blowing up the roster. We can stay competitive while our rookies potentially grow into all stars.

I think we have a better shot a getting a superstar that way than banking on Howard suddenly changing his mind

Are you ready to be content with basing all decisions on what other people will think/how quickly your decisions will pay off, with no regard to the future?

Laughing stock of the league? You used to go home and laugh about how bad the Sonics and Thunder were? Weird.

People let pride get in the way of their ultimate goals far too often. As long as I believe the Rockets are trying to get better, even if it means I have to take some flak occasionally by opposing fans, I'm OK with that. I care more about making the right decisions and getting better for the long haul.

This isn't the real Rockets jersey. The real Rockets jersey has that awful shoulder cut that would hide even Dwights shoulders.

one of the few who get it.

Not that it will happen but at least we are in the mix of shaking things up.

Funny how some of y'all just discount Howard and his presence.

He is a top 3 player!!!

You get Dwight and they 'anyone' will come. Period. The end.

Funny how y'all discount Dwill too.

    Some people on this board.

At least you (clutch citizen) get the big picture.

    Good post

I can assure you that's not the case here. I am most definitely not a Dallas fanboy although I will admit that I find Cuban a fascinating owner. While I cannot divulge my sources, I can assure you that they are in the sports business and in the know.

You would think so as well but with Sterling and the Clips you just never know. Sterling has been a bad owner for so long that to expect him to actually act like a competent owner is a bit of a stretch for me. I suppose, it all depends on what CP3 does - he signs the extension, Griffin stays put AND they have a legit shot at supplanting the Lakers in LA. But this is the guy Cuban REALLY likes.

Yeah, Carl H explained why in a previous post. Still learning the ins and outs of how the new CBA has altered the landscape. Considering what you have just pointed out along with CH's analysis, I can now understand the gist of a Mark Cuban verbal tirade I recently witnessed.

I have no problem rebuilding if THIS option does not workout. If we can't get Howard I am on board with rebuilding because we have no other choice.

I won't however just give up the hope for a contender in the next two years with Howard. He is a franchise player and if you look at other teams who stunk it up like the Nets, Kings, Warriors and Raptors they haven't been as LUCKY as OKC.

You want to gamble on sucking to get your franchise player or gamble on Howard?

    You know where I stand.

In the midst of the Drummond vs. Dwight/D-Will debate, I just want to say that I hope something actually does happen. Too many times have the hopes of Clutchfans been risen to this level only for all of us to be disappointed in the end. At least this time it's not about Gasol.
