    THANK YOU!!!

People need top cut that out, QUICK!

Why trade away ALLLLL these assets for a player that isnt going to stay???

Hakeem aint gonna talk him into it...

    D. Will aint coming here.

You trade away all that and then he leaves and you have NOTHING to show for it.....then what?

5 more years of pick 14?

    Pass.

    Just get Drummond....

Let him grow and hope for the best.

Thats cool if we don't already have Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin, Scola, Dalembert on their best attitudes to give us a Guinness World Record number of 14th picks

Because he's the best center in the game and Drummond is far, far from a sure thing as well.

If you can land 2 top ten picks, I would stay with those. Drummond and Perry?? Or whoever! With the assets that will be used to land DH12, your not gonna be deep contenders still.

So Deron Williams wouldn't join Dwight in a better organization like the Rockets? He would choose a terrible Nets franchise over us?

But do you actually think he will say no to houston if they manage to snag Dwight?

How much are we giving up for the draft picks?

We are all assuming Lowry and our own picks.

    But who else?

    Parson? Bud? Patterson? Possibly D-Mo?

Then if we work something out for Dwight, I'm assuming Kevin Martin/Dalembert (expiring/partial guaranteed) will be gone? Scola?

We can't make up lineups right now because we don't know who we are trading!

Of course we would like to keep Parson and D-Mo. But they could very well be the assets needed to get those high draft picks which could get us Dwight.

Regardless, if we do get Dwight and he bolts, than we will finally begin to rebuild properly. But man would that suck... We are already on a dry spell for over a decade....

How much would ya'll be willing to give up to get Dwight? (No matter how much we give up, we would for sure still have a good point guard - Deron/Dragic)

That's what he said. And it probably has to do with money, no? He'll take a huge discount for one team - Dallas - because it's his hometown and they'd have as good a shot at a championship with him, Dirk and company as we would with Dwight and whatever else we had left.

    What evidence is there otherwise?

it says online that deron wants to go to the mavs and wants to make a big 3 with them (dirk, williams, howard) that can beat miami big 3 so when i read that i was thinking that howard wouldn't stay with us

Have you seen the Free Agent list for this summer? There's a copious amount of stars nearing the end of their careers that will sign with a contender for cheap.

We might lose some assets to land Dwight but they can and will be easily replaced.

Drummond and Perry won't be ready to help lead us anywhere for 3 years minimum and the chances of 1 if not both of them busting are far too great for me.

And to do so, he would likely have to take a 50% pay cut.

to be honest dallas is a better destination for howard than houston is, but i dont see what the mavericks have to trade for him. its not like dh12 is a free agent right now.

Quick question: if we got howard, would anyone be opposed to signing nash instead of dragic if dwill doesn't agree to come here? Or do you stick with dragic and keep him for the future if (and when) howard leaves?

I want to win the lottery this week. Doesn't mean it will happen. If they sign Deron, Mavs have neither the trade assets or the eventual cap room to get Howard there.

Dallas does not have anything to trade that Orlando would want.

And next offseason if I'm not mistaken, Dallas won't have (and isn't even close) enough cap space to absorb the salary Dwight would want. And since Dwight opted in for one more year, he will be the one taking all the pay cuts for it to happen. Opposite of Miami, where both Bosh and LeBron both took pay cuts.

Agree wholeheartedly with your post. I just don't get all of the fuzzy logic being thrown around about Howard & Williams:

That Howard would actually entertain the idea of playing for Houston even though he previously scuttled a deal that would have sent sent him here.

That Howard would have no choice but to extend because it's a lock Williams will come here.

That even if Howard bolts after one year, the Rockets still win because the Rockets will be forced to finally rebuild because the team will suck enough to get a high lotto pick.

I just don't get it - it smacks a bit of desperation on the part of folks here looking for a quick fix. Well, they have been looking for quick fixes since the late 90s and none have worked. It's WAY past time to rebuild and with this being a deep draft, they should be able to find players that can grow and help remake this team. If Morey is the supposed genius everyone here makes him out to be and if McHale is a bonafide NBA head coach, then that's the way to go. Houston could wind up like OKC - with a core group of young players with the upside to get better - instead of dancing around, wasting another year engaged in yet another quick fix scheme.

You're absolutely correct. Wouldn't get nearly as much as we'd give up. I'm actually on the same page as you with the keeping of the 2 top 10 picks. I think it's the best decision for the future of this team. My original point was lightheartedly picking at Morey's "assets" focus.
