Nets, if Howard tells them he wants all 5 years and he'll re-sign with Houston if he doesn't get it.

Lakers for a package around either Bynum or Gasol

Bulls for some kind of Noah/Asik + Bobcats pick package

    Clippers for Blake Griffin

lol exactly only...Howard you go all in...we may never get a shot at a top ten player again...and He could even give us a shot at another top player in DWILL...

I mean this is a calculated risk that you take. Every time...

We would do a sign and trade no matter what..I am not sure how much the nets get out of it...but they would definitely do a sign and trade ( SO THEY GET SOMETHING) and I would presume that we would have to in order to land D will.

Great post. It's championship or bust. The current Rockets roster has a very slim chance to be successful in the playoffs against the Thunder or Miami. Go all in, we have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. It's all about making sure there is $14.5 million in cap space to sign Williams. Morey did he same thing last year when he offered two of our starters and Dragic for Gasol, but he was going to sign NeNe to make up for it. Same scenario, but way better players this time around. Basketball reasons could be the greatest thing to happen to the Rockets.

Williams wants out of NJ. He's a competitor and he even played overseas for chump change just to stay close to the game. His only option to compete is to play for Dallas, but they just got swept in the first round. Dirk is old and they don't have anyone else worth mentioning. Signing in Houston with Howard and co. would be destiny for him. And we get to screw NJ in the process for stepping on our turf and offering Scola all that money.

I swear though when a risky trade isn't happening people on this board complain about the organization not having enough balls to do a big trade. When a big trade rumor actually happens they get scared and say it is way to risky.

As long as the Rockets don't give up any additional picks for next year there is no reason why you shouldn't go for this deal.

That's the beautiful thing about it. If Deron stays in New Jersey, then Dwight is most likely a one-year rental, in which case the Rockets play out there year and see what happens. Then Dwight leaves and the team starts over from scratch.

If Deron chooses Dallas, then that significantly hurts New Jersey's chances of getting Dwight.... increasing the Rockets' chances of keeping him.

If Deron chooses here... well, I don't think I have to explain what that means.

So we lose our superstar in Dwight and rebuild through the draft? Aren't we already watching this play out? We lost Tracy and Yao then promptly obtained consecutive 14th picks. Morey will do his best to satisfy Alexander's no tanking philosophy because it's his job to satisfy Alexander.

They would just get a trade exception with a 2nd round pick that is top 55 protected or some junk like that.

Even without Deron, we can still be contenders.

There are veteran all-stars out there that we can sign for cheap.

    KG
    Steve Nash
    Ray Allen

Heck without Deron, we would resign Dragic.

I think that's the only way we could keep Dwight and it's actually very realistic if Howard does get traded here.

I'm guessing Dragic wouldn't sign here after all if D-Will does? Like Lowry, he's made it very clear that he wants to start.

Yeah, I will be in flight to Vancouver at the time the draft is happening. I have a feeling my Twitter account will have exploded by the time I hit the runway.

Only if Dwight agrees to an extension. Which will be the case for anyone. As of now, the only team he's indicated he'll do that for is Brooklyn.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was all a smoke screen by Morey for a different type of deal in the works. How many times does the media report one thing and Morey does the complete opposite?

Personally, if we got Howard, I'd give it about a 10% chance he re-signs with us after the season. Just don't see it happening. Drummond on the other hand doesn't impress me to much. Doesn't seem like he has IT. Either way I'm pretty confident that our roster will look different come the first game of the season.

I believe Morey and the front office are in line with this thinking. I'm just saying we have a good chance to be contenders regardless if we have both Deron and Dwight. If we just have Dwight, then Dragic will be resigned. And Morey will have plenty of time to pick up great role players.

We already have great role players, we need add another star if we do complete a Howard trade.

Why are people so sure Deron Williams is about to leave a crapton of money on the table?

He's prepared to lose that money if he goes to Dallas.

drummond will be a bust. not meaning to hate on him, but he won't be a star C in this league.

he will slip in the draft.
