solid for a 18 yr old cetner yes...but if that 18 yr old center can be flipped for a 20 n 15 franchsie center...you do it.

I'm fine with whatever happens. If we can get two top ten picks, while only dumping 2 guys that are easily replacable (I love Lowry but Dragic is the real deal) then I'm all for it.

We trade for Dwight, he stays- win.

We trade for Dwight, he leaves, we bottom out and rebuild through draft- win.

Either way, we stop picking at #14- more win then you can handle

If we can get both top 10 picks who is our other target if we get Drummond with the 5th pick and Orlando turns down our deal who would be our 2nd pick rivers would be too high I feel even though I would be estatic if we got Drummond and rivers but I'm not sure rivers is the target that high Henson maybe lilliard maybe

I know Dwight Howard gets a lot of **** on this board but he along with maybe only 4 or so other players are true game changers in this league. If you were to build a championship team the top 3 candidates would be LBJ, Durant and Howard in no particular order.

Howard made the Magic perennial contenders with his 2nd best player(s) as Rashard/Hedo and in 2009 let's not forget he carried a team with Rafer Alston at PG to the Finals.

It boggles my mind why anybody on this board WOULD NOT be all aboard the D12 sweepstakes even if he doesn't sign an extension. Even if we give up a lot you can bank on us getting to the Conference Finals at the very least.

That's one way of looking at it.

Morey has a year to build a contender if he gets Howard.

Bingo. I can't believe anyone would object to this approach. If we can make something happen, then do it.

We WILL be contenders in a year if we land Dwight Howard.

The second option is actually lose, if it actually happens, as compared to just keeping the picks, in which case you are rebuilding earlier, and potentially through a better draft.

I understand we don't know what will actually happen yet, and option 1 is awesome if it happened, so why not pursue it? You have to weigh the probability of option 1 happening. I think it is under 50%. I understand that few (no?) players have left the type of money on the table Dwight would have to leave to just walk, but I don't think his options are entirely limited to just walking. He could, for example, go ahead and sign an extension, and then sulk/play like crap for 2 years until he gets his way, as an example. He could have more "injuries". Etc.

I'm not saying he will, and up until the very last day of the trade deadline last year, I would have thought he wouldn't do those types of things.

But speculation or not, it seems 99.9% obvious that Dwight opted in to the last year to avoid being traded to a place he didn't want to end up. He wasn't making a specific f'you Houston statement, but he just generally wanted to end up in Brooklyn (or maybe LA) so it was in his best financial interests to opt-in, while only delaying his move a year in his head, and retaining the ability to "choose" his final destination. Then he went into injury/sulk mode. He still could get traded to a rental like Houston, but he's made his position more strongly obvious there. He's saying loud and clear, I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY IN HOUSTON.

What I find even more hilarious is that people then use the exact opposite logic to assume Deron will then come and sign up. So Dwight won't leave Houston because he doesn't want to leave money on the table... AND Dwight being here will convince Deron to leave money on the table and sign with Houston out of NJ??? What??? That makes no sense. That's not to say you need Deron to be successful with Dwight... just funny logic.

Anyway, given the above, I will certainly root for a Howard led squad, but I think it is actually LESS risky to start to rebuild now, if you can trade up for those assets.

I agree, but cousins has been a disgruntled player and a head case in Sacramento.

I don't know a lot of things Sacramento does.

I don't think much of Sacramento. They do a lot of dumb business.

Cousins wont be there regardless after his rookie contract.

Heck the kings might not even be there much longer with the Stadium deal falling apart.

During the season Dwight was spotted by a friend of mine at a local Houston restaurant with his crew likely talking about his future. They stayed and talked a long time, even past closing. Not that I have any real indication about the nature of the talk but I just think it would be interesting if he ends up in the city where he stayed out late chowing down. Maybe Houston's food will win over a big guy like Howard. ;)

    It was a Pappadeaux fyi.

This waiting is fun, but it better pay off and at least net us a top 10 pick or I'll be pissed. I don't want to go into training camp with Morey telling us he'll be trying again at the february deadline!

What makes you guys think that if Dwight bails, we would start building through the draft? We would most likely just go back to being mediocre with even less talent than before.

3 way it for Bynum Morey! At least he'll re-sign most likely.

Bima, playing the "what if" game.... IF, the Rockets were able to make that deal and acquire Howard, would they still have the means to be able to obtain Deron Williams (S&T with Nets? straight up FA signing?) I would think Deron would consider the Rockets if Howard was on board.
