Mood went from "Yeah, the Rockets gonna finally move up in the draft and take a chance on someone and not play it safe" to "NOOOOO!! NOT DWIGHT! A RENTAL? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"

    Ha.

Acquiring two top ten picks? That's gonna be tough. Good luck.

Yup, I'd only trust Liam Neeson with this sort of task

But since Sacramento and Toronto's picks are available, I'd say it's possible.

The key to keeping a big name big man is Deron Williams. If we can get to sign to the max, I'm sure that would have to increase Howard's chances of signing back. Dwight could still bolt (and leave D-will behind) to NJ or even LA after the season, but maybe we can pitch an offer to Bynum to play with Dwill and gang.

I hope we get both Drummond and Tyreke.

I hate being such a pessimist, but I foresee Morey acquiring two top 10 picks and trading them for Dwight Howard. During the 2012-13 season Howard will sit out most of the season with back problems while our draft picks Magically tear up the league . Then, when Howard leaves us in free agency, we will all look back at moan about what could have been.

Oh, yes, I forgot. Morey will still have Les' love, and we will pick at #14 again.

I Completely agree with you man, Lowry, next year's Dallas pick and maybe taking on a relatively bad contract (Chuck hayes) seems fair to me.

I do think we a close to a Lowry + either 14 or 16 (hopefully not both but if it lands Drummond then oh well) are going to be traded for Sac's 5. And I'm fine with that trade but my only hope is that 1) Portland doesn't flank us...again or 2) This all isn't for a DH 1 year rental.

So the only solution is to rent Dwight?

How about we do the common sense thing and, oh, I don't know, draft. develop, and keep Drummond!

    Or Meyers.
    Or Barnes.
    Or Perry Jones.

    Or, hell, even Henson.

But to rent Dwight Howard, when he doesn't want to be here, smacks of a level of cockiness, and disregard for reality, that Tony Montana exhibited while he was on his coke binges.

And we know how that worked out.

As long as we make the inital moves this seems like a win win situation to me.

To get the 5th and 8th picks from the Kings and Raptors I would imagine that the deals would have to look something like this:

Rockets send Lowry and 14th pick to Kings for 5th pick
Rockets send Martin and 16th pick to Raptors for 8th pick

Now I think the Kings deal can go down as stated but if needed we can take back some salary. Now the other trade I'm not so sure on. The Raptors might not bite on that package and we might have to look into the possibility of adding another player like Budinger or adding a future draft pick.

Now if we can get both those deals done I believe we are looking good no matter what happens next. If we go the Dwight Howard path I could see a deal with the two top 10 picks we just got plus Scola, Dalembert and Morris for Dwight getting the job done. Now if this happens on draft day then it will be interesting to see what Deron does. He could follow Dwight to Houston which I'm sure would be the ultimate end game for Morey to pursue Dwight as hard as he is.

If a deal can't be reached with the Magic then we still sucessfully flipped mid range picks and players who either don't want to be hear (Lowry) or aren't in our long term future (Martin) for top 10 picks where are chances of finding young star talent become higher.

Then we suck the year after he leaves, get the 1st pick and draft Jabari Parker. He then goes on his mormon mission for 2 years and we suck again the next year earning back to back 1st picks. With the 2nd year we draft Andrew Wiggins and then he plays for a year before Jabari comes back to us and we dominate for a decade!

See I can play what if too!

If we end up trading the mother load for Dwight and he doesn't play but half a season and in fact bolts on us, why would that be a bad thing?

We'd then know for sure it's rebuilding mode time and get a top pick in next years draft and then more than likely a good pick in the year after's.

It's a risky situation but I'm all for it we either WIN BIG or LOSE BIG. But we've known Morey has had his eyes set on Dwight regardless, D-will would be next.

Enough of this jibba-jabba, what moving parts does it take (don't just say picks) to move Howard here. I know Hideyat is coming along. Who gets moved from Toronto and who gets moved from Sacto?
