Not really a trade package but a list of possibly their most valuable assets.

Kevin Martin + Dally are expirings and could be the fillers to match Dwight's salary. Would it be possible to open up enough cap space to pursue Deron Williams if this (longshot) scenario goes through?

this deal should be consumated before the draft...the longer it gets to get done, the more chances of other powerhouse teams like Mavs to derail DM's supposed to be plan.

What about DeAndre Jordan? Is that a decent comparison?

I'm pretty sure pretty much every single team is interested in acquiring Howard, has called Orlando about him and will continue to call Orlando about him no matter what the Rockets are doing and no matter what ESPN writes.

The Mavs, though, I don't see how they can acquire Howard. Got nothing valuable to trade besides Dirk.

Admittedly I haven't read every page but it seems like no one has struck upon the idea that the Rockets could potentially draft Drummond and spend the next few months evaluating him closer while also trying to get a better feel for Dwight's extension signing plans (or non-plans). The potential is always there to trade for Dwight during the season if that's what they feel like doing.

I agree with most though, I'd rather roll with Drummond, Dragic, Parsons, D-Mo, Lee and a 10th pick than trade for a flaky Dwight Howard. And if D-Will is who he wants to convince him to resign, than I'm dead against it. I just personally don't feel like a combination of D-Will, Howard and a bunch of trash assures you a deep playoff run. Especially after seeing him play like a dog last year. Maybe mid-season though, my mind would be changed.

If that guy doesn't turn into an all star it will only be because he doesn't want to. That might be one of the best highlight tapes for a player of his size that i have ever seen.

Do you all realize that an 18 year Drummond could turn out to be the focal point or a major contributor on this team for the next ten years? The best thing about it is we would have 4-5 years to develop him. He moves around to well to be a bust.
And you all have him traded for what you know could possibly be a rental.
You all are not really interested in the future of the team if you want to trade possible top lottery picks in a deep draft for Howard, who has maybe 3-4 more good years left. Then that "back" really starts to kick in. But don't worry. He won't even stick around Houston long enough for that.

If Dwight Howard doesn't want to waste a year of his career playing somewhere he doesn't want to be, he needs to make it clear in no uncertain terms that he has no intention of staying in Houston period.

I'm sorry but a bunch of trash certainly isn't what will be left in the event we trade for Dwight and sign Deron. It is expected that we will be left with:
    - Scola
    - DMo
    - Parsons
    - Budinger
    - Lee (Restricted FA)
    - Dragic (Unrestricted FA but wants to sign with HOU - could play the starting SG and backup point.
    - Camby (Unrestricted FA but wants to sign with HOU, might take Vet min if HOU was a contender)
    - Patterson (may be traded, may be kept. Returning from injury he could be a good player in his 3rd season)

If you put Dwight (of who contributes in ways that we have been desperately missing - e.g. Rebounding, shot blocking, star power, inside scoring) and Deron Williams ( another all -star with scoring and the ability to create for others) with the players above I think you have a top 2-3 team in the West. A team that could potentially mix it up with LA and OKC in the western conference finals. That is not to mention any other 'up his sleeve' type moves Morey has in store, as we all know they come from left field which most have no idea are coming.

Maybe. I think Deandre Jordan would be Drummon's floor, not ceiling.

DeAndre Jordan in high school was just a big athletic freak and nothing else. He couldn't handle the ball, no footwork, couldn't pass, no moves. If you look at Drummond's video again you'll see he has some of those skills, and is not just a freak of nature athletically.

    DeAndre's high school mix.

the idea of moving up is AWESOME.
but...for the love of god...please dont flip those picks to one-year Howard rental...

We should be patient and rebuild the team through draft

For a player of his size? He is a hair under 6'10 without shoes. If that was the best highlight tape you've seen then you probably need to watch a few more. I was kind of underwhelmed by his complete lack of an offensive game.

He looks to me like he will turn into a Dwight Howard with a better jump shot. I think he is slightly more agile than Dwight and can use the dribble much better than Dwight.

Please don't think I am saying he is Dwight, but with his physical tools and potential defensive master, he could potentially turn into him in years to come.
