Yeah, DaDa. We need to keep Drummond.

Enough with trying to avoid tampering on a secret deal with Dwight....going for it NOW.

This is what I was hoping for .......talentwise, a steal at 5. We've got CD, Kevin, and Dream (maybe Moses too) to work with Andre and D-Mo.(on and off the court) Rebuild and let Kevin instill that culture.

    Go Kasper Gutman!

Bradley Beal will be off the board before the 5th pick. So I don't think he's the guy there.

However, taking Drummond for Orlando as the centerpiece of a Dwight Howard trade seems very plausible to me.

I think it'll be something like this...

    Lowry, Dalembert, 14

    For

    5(Drummond), Evans, Francisco Garcia

I hope Morey forgets about Gasol. He is beginning the downhill slope of his career and is very, very expensive. Also, he doesn't want to play here in Houston.

More plausible than us drafting him for us. However, I seriously doubt Orlando is interested in him. Their GM came by way of SA and OKC. He knows how to evaluate talent.

I did notice you deftly avoided giving your opinion on Drummond once again. ; ) That's ok. I know you dislike him almost as much as I do.

I say the only way we make a trade for 5 is if Beal is there.

    1. Davis
    2. MKG
    3. Robinson
    4. Barnes
    5. Beal

I agree with you. Beal should not be there at 5. But...if he is and Sac takes him, I can see a deal happening involving Lowry and our picks.

Beal makes a ton more sense than Drummond for Orlando.

I try not to get too up on reports like this because the Rockets try every year, but they are better positioned this year to trade up than any other year. Deep draft with good players going to 20 or so ... having 14 and 16 is a pretty decent spot to be at.

I do think you undervalue Drummond. He has real knocks and you have to develop him, sure, with no guarantees that he will develop ... but that kind of size+mobility is rare. Definitely he could bust out, but outside of the UConn connection, I don't see Thabeet at all. Hasheem was just massive... he didn't have any skill outside of blocking shots, any fire, any instincts for the game. He was totally cool with his place in life and basketball didn't define him... he was never going to develop.

Maybe. I think Beal and Drummond are the two trade-up targets that make sense... Bima and I talked about this in the podcast. I think Beal will be gone before 5 though. And look at the last two years -- the Rockets specifically targeted big guys who many would claim were the best or second best prospect in the draft, but because of their knocks, they "slid" to 5th.

Almost uncanny if Drummond slides to 5 and the Rockets are/were trying to get him there.

Add Patterson and Sacramento might bite.

I wonder who are the players included in the package for a higher pick from either the Kings or Raptors?

if they draft Drummond please keep him. Do not trade him for a 1 year rental of Dwight Howard.

More than likely Matthews from Portland and Garcia from Sacramento.

Certainly could be the case as we know for sure they're going after Howard (<a href="http://rockets.clutchfans.net/2668/dwight-howard-houston-rockets/">link</a>), but you better have some pretty good assurances or you better like Andre Drummond yourself if you're going to take him for Orlando only.

Kings might want to move the bad contracts of Salmons or Hayes.

The only bad contract on the Blazers is Shawne Williams. They might look to offload Crawford's too. Both are expiring and options, ie can't be traded until after July 1.

I'd be fine if the through in K-Mart, even.

No way we should give up Lowry AND both picks, though.

In my opinion, if Lowry goes to the Kings, it'll involve Evans and K-Mart.
