Be more responsible in how they write their headlines. That would be a good place to start. To stop being so alarmist.
Like the headline that says it MAY threaten Texas? Or, the one that says "now that TS Debby has formed we should get a better idea of where it's going"? Or, how about "Debby strengthening, now appears less likely to move toward Texas"?
I agree that at times the media tries to hype up a storm, but I don't see how saying "the threat is gone...for now" is sensationalism. It's the truth.
Storm is now stationary, and it may remain as such for "several days." What?! Better keep up with this one.
We so desperately need the rain; a little wind damage would be worth it. It is clear that the weather experts are clueless on this one because the factors that go into their projections are so bland. Essentially, there are no steering currents. Weird. Late afternoon, I wrote it off, going into Florida. Then it stops. You may get your wish.
I wish it would....but everywhere I see it is saying a Florida landfall tomorrow night. Really hope the Jet stream leaves it alone though and it goes west. Something like this:
I own a condo on the beach in Destin, looks like it could be in trouble. Neighbor called, said they had a double red flag and the beach was closed. #Insurance
If it were coming any other weekend, I would agree. We've got plenty of tropical season left for some small storms to bring us rain.
Not really. Look at last year. Zilch. At least, we got more rain this year than last year. 5am models are still split on where it will go. Crazy!! SacTown, hope there won't be too much damage to your condo.
For everybody wanting a storm, feel ok about 80 or 90 mph winds after the drought we had last year? Any tree that is even halfway unstable will come down. Granted, i've seen a lot cut down but I would imagine the collateral damage from the debris would be pretty devastating. In fact, after IKE, there was a lot of flooding simply because the drainage systems had so much debris in them. Ya, I know...
