Sorry for the double post but as an addendum - before you say "oh he must have been confused": There are 3 streets in that neighborhood. One is a circle that loops through the whole neighborhood, one is Twin Tree lane and the other is Long Oak Way. I'm not even going to get into Martin allegedly circling around his vehicle or screaming "you got me" when he was shot. Regarding the polygraph test: - it's inadmissible in court. - it's accuracy is questionable (Look up Gary Ridgway - the green river killer)
You're really stretching things. Those weren't the key points of the re-enactment, and to claim that anybody with a CCL is "looking for a fight" is absolutely ridiculous. I dismiss what you wrote.
Serious question -- do you think that because TM was African American, that changes your perspective or bias on this case? This isn't some kind of "us vs. them" battle -- it's a tragic loss of life of a human.
1) Good job addressing absolutely nothing in my post. 2) What relevance does anything you just posted have to do with anything that I posted. 3) You're probably of the ilk that believes that all black people thought OJ was innocent/voted for Obama. 4) Glad to see you've moved on from "the black" to a tragic loss of life. I'd like to believe that you've advanced yourself morally. But tbh we all know that isn't the case. At no point in my history on clutchfans have I ever turned a debate into "us vs them". It has *nothing* to do about race, that's what you don't understand. You think people are outraged because it was a black kid - why? Because you see the world in colors. It has *everything* to due with Zimmerman potentially walking free after a questionable series of actions which resulted in the death of a teenager. White, yellow, brown, I wouldn't give a damn what race the kid was.
So true. The Golden rule of good parenting is that if your kid has trouble in school, they shouldn't be allowed out of the house for skittles and iced tea.
Remind me again, what's ridiculous? The fact that Zimmerman is a documented liar who has changed his story multiple times? Or was it that the lead investigator believed that Zimmerman was lying and he pursued Martin? Maybe it was that Zimmerman claims that he forgot what street he was on despite the fact that he claims his memory was expansive enough to remember everyone who lives on that street? I dunno. All that I do know is my initial point stands. Zimmerman has zero credibility.
I think this is one of the first times you've genuinely recognized Trayvon as a loss of life. Throughout this thread, he seems to be another statistic to you, "the blacks," or a scapegoat for your boy, George. To answer your question, Trayvon's categorization as an African American directly impacts the perspective of this case. It has a great deal to do with one man's misunderstanding of another race and judging a young man to be dangerous based on his skin color and other physical features. Bias is not the word you're looking for. You already acknowledged that this is a loss of life, so what's there to be biased about? If the victims were reversed under the same pretenses, the outrage would still be there. You just choose to frame this case with a one-sided defense of GZ. You try to seem objective, but it's obvious you're not.
lol you're tossing out the race card again, and you don't even know it! it's so easy, folks, to just toss out the race card. That's the easy way out. Think more critically.
Initially, when asked, GZ could not identify the race of the individual he was concerned about. He was directly asked by the 911 Operator and he responded, as I recall, that he was "not sure." It was almost an hour after sunset that day (I looked it up) and Trayvon was wearing a hoodie. .... or is feigning ignorance also part of GZ's master plan? BTW, remember people and places, i.e. street names, are very different tasks. I'm absolutely GREAT with faces but not so good with names.
Let's stick to the facts. GZ said he was following TM and then changed his story to he was looking for a street name. Which was it? How could GZ not know the street name if he knew the names of every resident in the complex? Why was GZ in an area of the complex between buildings looking for a street name where there are no street names if he was simply looking for a street name? Why was GZ carryng a gun following a teenager in the dark when he'd already called the police? Why did GZ even get out of his damn car when the dispatcher told him he didn't need to do that? The truth is GZ was a zealous wanna be cop who was rejected from being a police officer and he wanted so desperately to be a cop that he went vigilante on a teenage kid that was doing nothing more than walking home with skittles and iced tea. TM, a minor, had every right to be where he was and it's quite reasonable for him to be afraid of being followed in the dark by a grown man in a vehicle and had every right to feel threatened for his safety when that grown man got out of his car against the advice of his dispatcher to follow TM between buildings, I mean, look in the bushes for a street name. GZ initiated this confrontation and when TM, obviously afraid for his safety by being followed by a strange man in the dark, started kicking Zimmerman's ass then GZ took his gun out and shot an unarmed teenage kid because he knew he screwed with the wrong kid. Weeks and months of accosting strangers in his role as neighborhood watchman and having a concealed weapon emboldened him to be far more aggressive in his "duties" then is acceptable for someone in this role and then after he killed the kid he knew he'd screwed the pooch and he's been flip flopping his story ever since.
As I recall, the detail on that was that GZ had lost sight of TM and had told the operator to have the police meet him, GZ. When asked for an address, GZ got out of the car to check the street name in order to be able to give an accurate location (doesn't sound like he is counting on mayhem). Isn't this the point where, in GZ's narrative, TM surprises him as he is returning to the truck? Been awhile since I read that stuff, but that is what I remember.
The confrontation happened in the grass between buildings, not in the street where presumably street signs are located. If GZ had been neighborhood watch captain for six months and had called the police numerous times over the past year reporting people how could he not know the street name in the very neighborhood he patrols? Is he the dumbest man alive or is he simply a liar? What about the account from the girl on the phone with TM? Who has more incentive to be lying? The alleged murderer or the teenage girl on the phone? Her story sure seems to make a hell of a lot more sense than TM jumped a grown man, dragged him off the street into the space between buildings and beat him nearly to death so much so that GZ had a couple of band aids on his head and declined to go to he hospital.
GZ had gone up to read the address on the side of the building, hadn't he? All GZ had said was that he was returning to his truck when confronted, I think.
From what I recall of those overhead maps, there were more than three streets and, anyway, GZ was retrieving a street number off the side of a building as I recall. This thread is TOO LONG to retrieve any of that stuff! Don't have that time for searching. Maybe someone has them bookmarked?
In our country, you are innocent until proven guilty. If that is a bit difficult for you to understand, let me simplify it for you; Zimmerman doesn't need to prove anything. His word is the fact. The only other witness is dead. If anyone thinks otherwise, then its the prosecutors job to prove him guilty, not your emotions.
Prepare to be obliterated, CometsWin. GZ was trying to stop crime in the community. He could legally carry a gun due to his CCL. It's not a crime to pursue TM. That's your subjective opinion coming through. To take your posting to the next level, please ground your statements in fact. This one did not accomplish that. You don't know that GZ started the confrontation. GZ says that TM swung at him. You have no evidence to disprove that. The neighborhood had been hit with crime. GZ formed the neighborhood watch to protect the community. And how can you say that GZ was "aggressive"? He called the non-emergency number and requested police support. His story hasn't flip flopped, either. GZ was calm and collected in the re-enactment. The details in question (except for the silly street name "issue" you're trying to raise) were consistent on the key points of the incident. You're just "wishing" GZ gets found guilty, for whatever reason. Again, you really need to work on basing your statements on facts. Do better.
