http://houston.craigslist.org/pet/3094258579.html Backstory: My gf found a dog in the street. Took it to the vet. It was microchipped and so the kennel kept it to contact the owner. On her way out they tossed her the "do you love dogs? Yes? Well today is euthanasia day. Would you like to take home and save a dog?" She went back here and looked at them. Told the employee she'll take the next one up in line to be euthanized. The dog is microchipped and has all the shots and is fixed. I love the dog and would keep him if we didn't already have three dogs. He loves people and apparently all dogs. He has not shown any sort of aggression towards humans or dogs. Does not like her cat though....dont blame him. Very sweet dog. Who has been given a second chance to enjoy life. She really needs to find him a home. 1 year old very energetic dog. We believe it to be some sort of pittbull mix. We have a beagle and two beablebulls (beagle pittbulls). Here is the Craigslist ad she made. She was stood up today by someone who contacted her. She went to meet them at a dog park for them to see the dog.
Just rescued one from SPCA or I would help....good luck! Also I hope this stays in The Hangout so more people can see this and hopefully help the little guy out.
I've never heard of vets putting down stray dogs? I guess it happens, but just seems a little weird. I'd advise you to look into local rescue groups. You'll likely be able to find a decent one that will work with you to help you get the dog adopted, as long as you foster it. It might help with the process a bit.
The dog she found was chipped and belonged to someone....this one was one that was in the kennel. #1 to be euthanize that day.
You should watch the HBO Documentary that premiered a week ago. Gut wrenching. Shelters gassing puppies because of over crowding. Sad.
Did someone actually purposefully cross a pit bull with a beagle? I hope not. Good luck with the temporary dog. We have a foster dog at the moment and it has been hell. Nothing seriously wrong with the foster dog but she makes six dogs under our roof.
As a beagle owner, I would love to see some pics of those pups . Years ago my male beagle mated with my parent's Boston Terrier (unplanned). They ended up getting her fixed right after that so no puppies, but now I wish they would've let her have them. Would have probably been a cool mix.
Find a foster group. Post pics and info at the boneyard dog park bar. Cl is ok. One is enough for me, but i will ask my friends.... Good luck and your badass for doing that.
