I think it has to be taken in context. It is easy for Cuban to say that having had Dirk for basically his entire tenure as owner. Selecting the right coach is important (Cuban has gone through several) but you need the horses.

Also, that might be a swipe at other owners too.........by communicating that if you're willing to step up and spend whatever it takes attracting talent (be it stuff that counts against the salary cap....or otherwise), then you too can easily get the talent.

I disagreed with some of the stuff Cuban said- he claimed that players "wanting it more" is a ridiculous notion, but I think that does exist. Some players are able to take it to the next level when the occasion calls for it (Rondo's 43 jump to mind, even though they lost that game), and last year's Knicks-Celtics series was a clear case of the Knicks not wanting it and the C's fighting for it. The Knicks were just happy to be in the playoffs at that time and got whooped.

Meh, Cuban generalized all of the media. Including guys like Magic, Barkley, etc etc who sometimes SAY THE SAME stuff about guys not wanting it bad enough...and who have been on the court and likely know more about it than Cuban does.

What about guys like JVG who do give some pretty good analysis?

Also SAS held his own IMO, especially when he asked Cuban if Odom was giving his all.

I don't think he had much of a point. He's just assuming that just because a team makes the Finals they want it just as much as the other team. That's not always the case. Also seemed to shrug off the idea of pressure, as if X and Os were the only thing that matters.

They matter a ton...but their are guys who give more effort and there are guys who rise up to the pressure or crumble because of it.

Mario Chalmers...James Harden. One of those guys welcomed the pressure and the other guy disappeared.

Cuban completed own Skip and SAS.

Skip and SAS made a fool of themselves.

Can't believe an owner knows more than 2 guys who have been in this business for decades. Ridiculous. ESPN hires a bunch of dummies.

you need to take that in context, he's referring to that no matter what sports media person says, it has no effect on the guys playing the game.

Makes me wonder why Skip was so butthurt after Jalen Rose mentioned that he averaged 1.2 ppg and played JV as a junior in high school. This definitely destroyed Skip's credibility more than anything Jalen ever said.

Les needs to get on this show and just start laughing at everything Bayless says.

I agree with Cuban. LeBron wasn't put in the position to succeed. It sounds to me like Cuban is admitting the Heat had the better team, but they had the better coaching. They took James out of the game and Spoelstra failed to keep him involved. LeBron should have spent some time guarding Dirk. That alone cost them a game winner. It makes me question the Riley...there are many better/proven coaches out their and he went with Spoestra. I though Spoelstra was just there to coach a 1 playoff series team. He should have been replaced when the big 3 formed.

Miami was destroying Dallas last year. They were up 2-1 and if not for that miracle comeback by Dallas in Game 2, then you are looking at 3-0. After 2-1 Dallas completely changed their defensive strategy. They focused on the zone, pushed Lebron out to the right side and let two defenders sag back so he couldn't penetrate, and of course his jumpshot was bad in the finals so he had to pass the ball. When he passed the ball his teammates did nothing with it. Then of course Dirk and Jason Terry went nuts shooting 65% and the rest was history. Of course Miami was the better team last year. But Dallas punked them with intelligence.

I HATE Skip Bayless but saying that OKC didn't play hard isn't really too far out there.. I felt like that the whole series they played so passive. And saying LeBron didn't choke against the Mavs is false.. he choked big time.

But OKC eliminated Dallas THIS YEAR, LOL... Miami/Spoelstra adjusted and elminated OKC and won the title THIS YEAR... We're not talking about last year, this year!!!

Not too impressed with what Cuban said. It was how we delivered it which made Skip Bayless look like he was owned. At least Skip stood up to Cuban (even though Bayless had no argument).

What bothered me more is stupid big mouth Stephen A Smith just sat there without saying a word. This guy is the loudest m*thafu*ka and he just lets Cuban talk without a lick of an argument. Either he agreed or he was just smart to step away.

This is what Cuban is trying to say. OKC DID PLAY HARD, but Miami's DEFENSE put then in positions to where they wouldn't succeed. Its not that difficult to understand and he is absolutely 100% correct.

They played passive because Miami made them play passive.

Lebron shot more outside shots in last years finals because Dallas made him do that.

There were no adjustment made by Scott Brooks to get Lebron out of his comfort zone.

In the video when they were discussing last year's finals it sounded like Mark Cuban admitted Miami had the better players, but the Mavericks had the better team. They made the right adjustments and took James out of the game.

The coaching staff is part of the team and the Mavericks had the better team. Players don't just start shooting 65% throughout the playoffs. That's a good coach setting up his players to take good shots.

There's just no equivalent NBA show to NFL Matchup, and that's a shame. NBA host and writers aren't breaking down the tape the way Jaws and Hodge do, who watch tape for a living. NBA shows are lazy. I would pay to watch a show for 30mins to an hour each week with JVG breaking down tape.

True. That's one edge NBA TV & TNT has over ESPN when covering the NBA.

I like Skip. He says what others won't, though he is biased sometimes. A lot of what he says is true, same goes for his predictions. It's just the way he goes about it. I don't agree with everything he says about Lebron, I understood where he was coming from and most of it was entertaining.

David Stern & NBA officials made me a fan of Mark Cuban years ago.

    This is not true.

SAS did jump in but it was later and the clips don't show him with the 'Gotcha!' question about Odom's effort this year.

Reread my post. I inferred that SAS agreed with Cuban by SAS not saying a word. SAS smith is the biggest blabbermouth and it would of been some debate if he got in with Cuban who was so adamant with Skip. SAS must of agreed with what Cuban said. It has to be right?

He agreed to a point, but he did get into it with Cuban it just isn't shown in the clips. Either way he wasn't silent the whole time, it was just for the duration of that clip.
