If the storm makes a turn towards Texas they should add a 'Lynn' to the name... 'Tropical storm Debbie Lynn bares down on Texas coast...' Gold.
I've been following tropical systems for years and have never seen computer models so divergent. These are all well respected models and for some to head eastward while others show a complete 180 west for days in a row is really crazy. I really have no clue what is going to happen with this one. It appears to me that it is still under hostile conditions and the center is displaced far from the convection to the east. You can see it clearly in this satellite loop. http://www.esl.lsu.edu/animate/goes/index.php?region=gulf&channel=lc This still needs to be watched closely.
The NHC just threw their best computer model out the window. It's showing this. You have to follow what the Euro says. It's been the best computer model for quite a while.
Going to Galveston next weekend, hope this doesn't have any ill effects by then.. including storm surge.
