There are plenty of other teams out there in the same boat in every sport.

In my other post I mentioned my favorite NHL team, the Coyotes. I fell in love with them when I moved to Phoenix 3 years ago, and they had never won a playoff series in Phoenix (~20 years)! Add to that the fact that they lost their owner a few years ago and were about to be moved out of town... then suddenly this season they went to the Western Conference Finals and I got to go to several games including the game where they closed out the second round. You never know. It's those kinds of experiences that make being a true fan worth it to me.

It's worth it. No question. Just kinda depressing

I will be a rockets fan for life.

Meh. There's plenty in life to be depressed about. :p You have to enjoy the little things, including in sports. Ignore all the negativity that happens around here. :)
    That's what I'm talking about!

At least I witnessed the rox getting out of the 1st round. That was probably one of the happiest moments of my life. Plenty of little things to be happy about. Maybe the texans will win next season and I will get to see what a championship feels like

I was 10 and everything was right in the world. The mid 90's were the best and most joyous time in my life as a sports fan. My Rockets were winning back to back championships and my Cowboys were winning Superbowls. My Rangers weren't doing much but I still felt spoiled as a kid with my teams. I knew it would be impossible to keep it up and I remember thinking that. I knew that success came in cycles and that there were going to be years where my teams were not going to be winning but at least I knew that the success would come back eventually. Now I'm living in sports purgatory waiting for that feeling again. My Rangers almost gave me that feeling again only to have it crushed in back to back years. I have hope that maybe within the next 5 years the basketball Gods may finally smile down on us again like they did in the "Dream Era" and our wait for that championship becomes a reality again. But as of now it will only remain just that..... a dream.

I've never been and never will be a fan of a team based on their reputation or how many championships they've won. Although I have faith that the Rockets will one day be good again, I won't move onto the next team because they continue to have bad seasons. I was born and raised in Houston so I feel like I have no choice but to be loyal and support our professional sports teams such as the Rockets and Texans! I am/was an Orlando Magic fan and grew to love them because of Dwight Howard, if he leaves I will still continue to be a fan of that team because I like their franchise for other reasons....So having no idea why you're a rockets fan shouldnt matter, just stay a FAN! Cause like someone said when they do start winning, people will know you've been there since they were losing and didnt just hope on the bandwagon passing through!;)

my loyalty resides in houston, born into an astros, rockets, & oilers family, oilers left fairly early in my life so i really had no time to get emotionally attached to them the way i am with the rockets & astros and even now 10 years of being a texans fan im emotionally attached.. im so pro houston, im happy fpr the dynamo but dont really care too much as MLS is not a major sport here.. its basically the worlds minor league, much like the CFL is to the NFL.. id welcome an NHL franchise with open arms, but a slong as houston doesnt have an NHL i will not adopt a regional team..

As a statistical average every team in the NBA would only win a championship once every 30 years.

    Have a dream
    Enjoy the ride

I guess I can kinda understand the sentiment of wondering why you are still a Rocket fan, but it is a weird thing to think to me.

It'd be like having a son that doesn't play sports very well and wondering why you haven't disowned him.

What else can I be but a Rockets fan? I was born in Houston.

It will be while before we get a player of Eric Riley's caliber to go to the NBA finals again.
