Here is my thought. If I'm the Nets, I barely missed out on getting that 15th pick(Best case scenario) from Morey THIS YEAR. All signs point to hold the pick for the Nets. Fair value for both teams is the 22nd pick. It's the middle between 15-30 I like your train of thought because future obligations to other teams preventing this team from trading a first rounder is a real pain. We have Dallas by the same balls. I also started a thread days ago saying Morey needs to cash in his Dallas pick. NJ is in a similar boat after probably the worst trade(20 games of Wallace for the 6th pick )I've ever seen. It might not be the "Splash" we all wanted, but boringly enough, getting out of debt for a fair price and not having a "debt loom" can be priceless. This wasn't the case for NJ and POR, but it can be for HOU and NJ.
Interesting quote from the chronicle. If they had Patrick that high, I am sure it's going to be another shocking turn of events, or not, when they decide to draft a undersized PF at #14 and some unknown guy at #16.
I believe it comes down to "Where do they pick." I'll run thru both moving up and staying put. Staying put - with the assumption that Drummond , Leonard and Zeller are all gone by the time the Rockets pick. I cant see more than one rookie being on the final 15 man roster. They already have a lot of young guy's who have had trouble breaking the rotation. At 14 Im taking Terrance Ross of Washington - Weakest position on the roster at least by numbers and possibly in talent as well. Ross has size and a well rounded game. He and C.Lee would be a nice combination at SG. At 16 , Im looking at a pool of post players who have size and upside or may have slipped out of the lottery - Henson , Jones3 , Sullinger , Zeller. Fournier can be stashed in Europe or stay with the team if Martin is moved. Sullinger .... If he's healthy he's an early lotto pick. Worth taking a shot on in the middle of the draft. Moving up - Sacramento 5 Portland 6 - Drummond. High risk , high reward pick here. May as well swing for the fences and hope he develops into a star. Cant be worse than drafting 14th again. To Toronto's #8 Im taking Meyers Leonard , best big in this draft outside of Anthony Davis. Probably the guy I'd most like to have in this entire draft as he and Motejunas present the Rockets with a big frontline for the future.
I want to see us acquire a guy who we can build around. I want to see us land an all star who plays both ways, solid character, loyal.
Option 1....not feeling it if Dwight doesnt sign long term. Option 2 is pretty much the scenario I want to see. Like that. Option 3 is also a good one if that happens cause PJ3 could still be there (maybe) and if not, Melo will be, so any 7 footer on the roster is a good look in the bigger picture.
The 1st Round for the Rox is up in the air, obviously. But JaMychal Green needs to be included in the Rockets' 2nd Round. Insane athleticism. Perfect fit for the Spread 4 the Rockets like.
Obviously I'd like to move into the top 3 for either Beal or MKG. But since that's unlikely I'll make the not-so-bold assumption we stay put with the #14 and #16. With the #14 I'd take Rivers (although I really can't see him still on the board at this point) and Royce White with the #16. I know he's got some question marks but he's got a unique style of play that looks to me like what we were expecting Morris to give us at the 3.
Can't edit. Sorry for the double, but had to add I'm hoping we can buy a 2nd and pick up Evan Fournier. As good of an upside pick as you're gonna get in the 2nd, and with the amount of players we'll have coming in we needed a Euro-stash pick or two.
I like what Ive seen from Fournier as well .... with the idea of stashing him in Europe for a year or two. I'd actually consider taking him at 16 if none of my other desirables remain - Or trading back with Boston for their two picks and sending one to NJ and the other on Fournier - If Boston would play ball.
Starting to look more into Royce and he would be a nice player to have.... Good handle, passing and hops.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sps0J1jgses http://nbadraft.net/2012-draft-study-results
Put the two trades that everyones aware of together good way of thinking i don't know if ninny gives us Johnson I know he hasnt produced but he is a top 5 pick they'd probably give us webster or some idk After that we can trade down to Boston's picks or Cleveland second first rounder and there second rounders
