I would check out the foot of brook lopez and if its sound, I would trade harden and perkins for him and filler. If not that,I would try to sign a guy like chris kaman to come off the bench.
Scott Brooks has taken a team further than SVG ever has, so FAIL on that. Yes, the Thunder should get rid of Brooks just like the Heat got rid of Spoelstra after last year's Finals. Wait....FAIL again.
It basically came to no one to stretch the defense (3-pt shooting/big men consistently hitting jump shots) and Harden not playing like the 3rd best player on the team. They needed those things to happen. Everyone keeps saying how they "need a real PG" but honestly if you look at past champions that is not always the case. The Heat, Mavs, & Lakers didn't have true PG's when then won the past 3 years. Instead the superstar player created shots for the team, or they used great ball movement. That movement was non-existent against the Heat though. Westbrook and Durant though have to do a better job of getting their teammates good shots though. That truly is the next step for Durant to improve his game. He can get any shot he wants, but he is not where he needs to be to create a shot or make the pass when it is there. He can sometimes, but not always. A post game would work towards that, and help him get more FT's like in these playoffs. Westbrook shows flashes of doing this, but sometimes he tries to force it too much instead of take what is there. Perkins just needs to be traded. More so because of the money/value not being worth it for him on the team. The players he would be useful guarding in the West would be Bynum, Cousins, Bogut, Griffin, & Randolph. First, even Perkins can only do much against those players. Plus if you really need a defensive specialist, Presti should be able to find cheaper options. Also, if you are going to be paying Ibaka big bucks in the future, he has to learn to defend those guys anyways. Plus with Harden & Ibaka, I don't see that many teams having a ton of free cap space next year. Plus with the new rules on restricted contracts for a new team I would be shocked if that many teams could truly offer a full max contract to either player. Even if they could they would likely be in play for only Harden and not Ibaka. Since both are on restricted deals too, there is also the possibility of holding off on guy with only the qualifying offer and wait on him for year. They should use a servicable older statesman guard to replace fisher, but doubtful Hinrick or Andre Miller would sign for that cheap.
Well the first comment simply isn't true Van Gundy faced the Lakers in the Finals and lost in 5 games so he actually got exactly as far as Scott Brooks has. I do agree that dropping Scott Brooks now is foolish because a few questionable coaching decisions is not enough to make up for the great contribution he has given the team and the possible negative fall out of firing him.
What happen to Harden we saw against the Spurs??? If that guy played, it be a different series right now!!!
what are they called? offensive sets? Yeah, might want to get something other than Iso. Ironically, they looked like the 2010-2011 Heat. And the heat played as a team with everyone pitching in. How to fix it? Westbrook needs to be humbled like lebron said about his transformation at the presser. How do you get humbled? You call dream at 1-800-dream34 or you email dream at "unbeeetable@awesomeness.com".
they'll be fine. there's nothing between durant and lebron. durant's as good as kobe in his prime scoring wise if not on jordan's level. a better coach and a smarter westbrook will definitely put them over the top. but if not, with 1 final under their belt, it's 50-50 against the heat for years to come.
The problem is, Sefo / Perkins just don't have a good offensive game. If you'll remember, Perkins caught it many times, deep into the post, only to fumble it a bit, allowing Miami to converge. Or, Perkins outright missed it. Or, he was rejected by Bosh. And Sefolosha had lots of good looks behind the three line, but missed it. OKC needs just a tad more offense. Sure, Durant and Westbrook are offensive gunners, but it couldn't hurt to have a Mike Miller / Shane Battier type of player, who sits in the corner on offensive possessions, waiting for someone to dribble-drive and dish it to them. Durant needs to take a long hard look at LeBron's performance in the Finals. He got to the rim at will against Harden in the post, from the top of the key as OKC was getting set, etc. Wade was on Durant for a majority of games; Durant could easily get by Wade, imo, with his length.
durant was already the best scorer in this series without getting to the rim all the time. he doesn't need to because he's a way better shooter than lebron. what he needs to improve compared to lebron is rebounding, distributing and defense. that's why lebron is the better player overall now.
Having WB dribble the entire clock out and taking a bad shot is not fine. But, it's okay with Scott Brooks. He's a very average coach who has no idea what to do with his team. And no I don't wish I had Scott Brooks as a head coach because that's a lateral move to Mchale.
I think the biggest thing is maturation from Scott Brooks. People talk about a stretch four, but they have something close to that already in Collison. He's comfortable out to 20 feet. I suppose a Battier-type that could go all the way out to the 3-point line couldn't hurt, but I think the talent is already there. Brooks just has to learn when to use it and have the confidence to go against his "big names". Playing two bigs against the Heat is a terrible idea because they surround Bosh with four wings. If you don't have the offense to finish inside and make the smaller Heat pay on that end (and Perkins doesn't), you're putting yourself behind the eight ball. But Brooks stubbornly clung to that big lineup time and time again. Likewise, there's just zero excuse to play Derek Fisher 25 minutes/game in the Finals. That's a borderline starter. He raised his stats with some garbage time threes last night, but by and large, he was a terrible shooter this series with even worse defense. I see the need for a clutch shooter that plays off the ball, but Derek Fisher is not that guy anymore. Maybe it's Cook. Maybe it'll be Maynor when he comes back. But it's not Derek Fisher, and stubbornly clinging to him based on his name ended up hurting them. Spoelstra grew up a lot after his first Finals trip. OKC needs to hope the same thing happens with Brooks.
