Translation: Morey won't give me those draft picks and I'm gonna try to squeeze him. Since it probably won't work, and I'm too proud to accept fair value for Gasol, I'll spew idiotic leader-drivel---like the Colonel telling his Lieutenant in 'Nam to defend this 200 meter line against an entire NVA regiment using four soldiers with twelve bullets, four grenades, and a handful of rosary beads as defense. "Got that, Lieutenant? I'll be in the bunker. Report to me when it's over."

But in his line of work he says,

"Hey, sucky Coach whose 'Coach of the Year' accolades were shining too brightly off his resume when he interviewed, given that he had LeBron on his team to make him look good. Move Pau closer to the basket next year. Hunh? Bynum? What ABOUT Bynum? He can set up on the left block, Pau on the right block. 'Kay?" (slaps coach on back) "I'll be in my office. See you in the Finals."

Gasol is not a very good defensive player. Scola had some of his best games this past season against Gasol and the Lakers. Gasol would not be awesome for this team. Gasol is only marginally better than Scola, but gets paid double. The Lakers had Kobe and Bynum playing alongside Gasol and they couldn't even get to the Conference Finals. The Lakers are now desperately trying to unload Gasol on some sucker team. Gasol is not a "superstar", but gets paid like one. Now is the time for the Rockets to rebuild with youth, not an overpaid veteran. I have no problem with the Rockets trading Scola, Martin, or Lowry. But, we should be acquiring draft picks and young players, not overpaid players in their 30's. Acquiring Gasol will just delay the rebuilding process. The Rockets should be trying to build a championship caliber team, not a team that is just "very competitive".

Many years ago Lakers traded their aging allstar center for #13 and picked Kobe. Today they are trying to do the same thing.

Buss is having a lot of trouble finding what he considers fair value for Gasol.

I suspect if this continues that Kobe is eventually going to speak up and then Mr. Jimmy is going to be on the spot to move one or both of the two bigs.

To be frank, I don't see any other team would offer much for Gasol. I don't want Gasol, but if we do trade for him I hope we are not competing with ourselves.

The Heat have been able to dominate the tempo of this series through the post. Lebron is mostly passing out of the post, but that's b/c they're doubling on the catch and therefore leaving Battier, Chalmers, Jones, etc open on the perimeter. If the Thunder don't double, Lebron attacks and destroys Durant's effectiveness via fouls. When they're tried Harden on Bron he's flashed strength and easy hooks over his left and right shoulder.

In addition, through usage of the post, Miami has minimized the Thunder's fast breaking style and forced them into the half-court, where Miami has the speed, athleticism, and length to bother their shots.

Utilizing the post is what every team would love to do, but it's easier said than done acquiring that talent.

This is the key to the whole series. Lebron is catching the ball with his back-to-the-basket midblock and the Thunder don't have an answer. Lebron can scan the whole floor and pick out a spot up wide open 3-point shooter if the Thunder bring help on him. IF they don't bring help, he's scoring 50.

Quincy Miller is no Kobe, but he has one of the highest upside at young age. Lakers is rumored to be interested in picking him.

I think it's much tougher to get a "Kobe of this draft" now with the new age rules. When high school players were coming out they were the ultimate risk/reward picks. Besides Lebron, I don't know of many high schoolers that didn't have a high bust potential that were drafted. Now with kids going to college you have a much better sense of what you are getting and raw talent is not the only thing you are drafting on.

He's getting his explosiveness back off ACL injury. He's still young and developing.

You said that the Rockets have moved past PAu but why were they still pursuing him in the days leading up to the deadline even though there was no way to get Nene?

    Steve Kyler
Overstated. The Rockets say their interest in Gasol was overstated all year. Its been said if they wanted him, they could have gotten him.
