Been prevalent a while now. Few months ago some guy killed his wife and 3 or 4 daughters cause he caught the oldest dating a white guy and he was in laying in her bed.
The Said Sisters is old news, picture was just added for effect, and to show that this is not a new thing to the western world. Another link for those that scoff at Barenakedislam. http://www.valleycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=766922#.T-MNCmthiK0 I don't hate Muslims at all, it is the Radical Islamic doctrine that I have a problem with.
It could've been a temporary marriage... When a temporary marriage is instituted in Shia Islam, a man and woman contract a mut’a for a limited period of time and for a specific amount of money (dowry) that the man must pay to the woman. He can then divorce her by saying I divorce you three times, and re-marry her again at a later date. Just saying.
Growing up in the West and he's mad they're too Westernized? Seems like he should kill himself first.
It also exists in Sunni Islam, but I won't tell you what it's called. That should keep you busy for a while.
Can't take the article seriously. Probably written by some 13 year old kid with some kind of a grudge.
This. The police aren't saying this is an honor killing it is the writer of the article who is editorializing that it is.
So Islam is cool with prostitution, I did not know that. No wonder Islam is fasted growing religion in the world.
A lot of these threads end up as "pure religion bashing" vs. "unquestioning religious support." It's essentially two groups of people who will have their own viewpoint, no matter what. It's rare Islamophobes who can scale back their own fear, and a more rare muslim who can acknowledge the stupidity of incidents associated with the cultures that spring up around Islam.
Religion may be one of the hardest things to stay objective about in the D&D. Especially when the authors and journalists themselves aren't even providing unbiased material either.
Religion is the very essence of bias. Faith is a very personal thing, unprovable, and in some cases unwavering - with no basis in fact. DD
That doesn't mean there are a lot of rational faith-driven people in the world as well. Can't blame someone for holding onto something that they've been taught from birth to believe in. The only thing that got me out of religion was realizing that religion attribution was largely determined by region of birth.
There is nothing wrong with folks believing whatever they like as long as they don't bother others in their worship. Religion does not deserve any respect, simply because it is about God. People deserve respect, faith - is personal - and if folks choose to respect it fine, if not, fine too. DD
Imagine if this story had been about a Christian guy who cheated on his wife, then get pissed because she's divorcing him, has a daughter that's seeing a non-good ole Christian white boy, and goes apes***t and kill them all, would anyone bring religion into this? Of course not. Tons of horrendous murders done by Christians in the US and other countries all the time, many for a lot more stupid reasons than the guy mentioned in the story. Sure, it is possible that the man here used the concept of honor killing(allegedly) to justify his crime. But in the end he's just a bitter old guy with a bad temper and a gun. I know from years of watching news that people don't need Islam to tell them to kill members of their families.
