For those, who are a soccer fan not for long, some info:

England team was able to lose on penalties in 2006 to Portugal, 2004 to Portugal, 1998 to Argentina, 1996 to Germany, 1990 to Germany and it's just as long as I can remember

Some England fans actually turned off their TV's in 06 after the overtime cause they already knew how it would finally end

This is the year. I wouldn't really take Italy, with Balotelli doing a spin around back heal penalty, to win it either. And Hart and Buffon, I would give an edge to Hart.

Also, the fantasy euro group for clutchfans is very close and will be interesting to see how teams adjusted with a clean slate coming into the quarterfinals.

    ^^ Triple post ftw.

We get it, England has sucked it up at the International stage. I think everyone knows this, with the exception of ivenovember. He's probably the only person on Earth who thinks England can play penalties.

Of all my International friends, only my English buddies are rooting for England. What's funny is that some are even bragging about the team so arrogantly, and they're totally serious.

And that's why I can't root for the Brits. They act so damn entitled.

I can't wait for the Greece-Germany matchup. Rooting for a Greek revenge after all the European Union fuss.

Germany 2:0. Hate Greece for all the stuff you see and their silly hate against Germany(not everyone, but a big number). Don't want to turn this into D&D so I'll not go further.

Well you have one English supporter on the great CF that has such low expectations for his team and still refuses to jump on the all is well now train.

Said from the start they wouldnt make it past the group stage. Now I'll say the won't beat Italy.
(Figured after all these years it's best to try that pessimism/reverse motivation thing)

My friends and I quit on the team after 2006.
So it made the McLaren disaster slightly easier to take since we didnt bother watching a single match during his reign. Just read the results.
Came back under Capello and dealt with another loss to Germany. Pondered stepping away again but decided just to keep watching but let the pessimism continue to build up.

ivenovember- I just mentioned a few posts ago how we lost on penalties TWICE to the same team in TWO years in TWO consecutive tournaments. Yet you still have England, the only team worse than the Dutch in penalties, beating Italy on penalties?
I don't even know what to say.
(except that I hope you're right)

He has a major deal with a hair styling company and basically did an advert for their product with the style in the 2nd half. He's smart and got a ton of money for what seems to be ridiculous.

Did not know that. Pretty smart indeed.

Genius ball-control just a couple seconds ago.

i think england will take italy in an extra time goal to win 2-1. don't think we can win on penalties given our history, though this team has a different aura than those of years past (the s0-called golden generation) and i really like joe hart in goal and think he is a winner (was so bummed when arsenal missed out on him after his loan spell at birmingham).
