Does anyone have a hookup for monitor repair or can even do it themselves for a good price? I've got a Haans G 24" that starts up and then it flashes a few times b4 the screen goes black. The power light stays green. I've found some videos like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-QvvlkHq9c but, i have zero experience with opening up a monitor or tv, etc and messing with the parts.
I googled the model and they go for 125-150 new. If it's out of warranty just get a new one. A repair shop will probably cost you close to the price of a new monitor.
I've already bought a new monitor. I was just hoping someone here would have knowledge on opening up monitors and replacing parts with the cheap fix and i would pay.
Is a Hannspree 28" LCD Monitors (1920x1200) for $180 used a good deal? I might return my 23'' Acer for it.
Get a screw driver open up the monitor. Look for the capacitors. They are the cylindrical things. If one of them is leaking or exploded you can get another one to fix it. Look at the resistors and see if any of them are burnt out. If its an actual IC that is damaged you need an oscilloscope and probably need to probe signals which isn't worth it.
Okay, will do. I'll post a photo of it so that maybe you can help me out. I know what the capacitors look like from that video above, but no idea what the resistors are.
Nevermind, got it open. Don't know what i'm looking at. I only see 2 of those capacitors unlesss they are hidden inside the small case. Am i supposed to unscrew the small case where the power cord goes? Or the case where the hdmi, dvi, etc go? Help me Air Langhi, you're my only hope.

this is a resistor: See if any of the darkened Post a picture or the board. An exploded capacitor will look fat, expanded or oozing electrolytes.
The capacitors seem to be in good shape. None of what you described. And the only thing that i can see as a resistor like the picture you posted is a lil pink thing that looks normal. Let me get a pic of it. Unless it's somewhere other than in the power supply.
Langhi, my camera is acting up. But, i've looked closely at every little piece and everything looks like new...
Yeah, i've tried different power cords, different hdmi's, vga's. It's all the same. Turns on for like 30 seconds(looks dark and flickers) and then it goes black.
Try a different monitor on the same video card connection. I had an issue with my video card, and the digital input to the monitor did the same thing (flicker, on for 10 seconds, green light, then off, then amber) on my workstation at my job. I am running ANALOG right now because I'm waiting for the replacement digital card to come in. You might have to re-seat the adapter and/or disable the adapter within the device manager. Get in there, you furry thing, I don't care what you smell (that's what SHE said).
