How can shooting up heroin, violence based on politics, etc. be blamed on Islam? I'm not trying to defend any religion, but IMO it is too easy to just blame Islam in this case when its not the real problem.
Just because there are other problems does not mean you should not clean up others. All of those things are problems, but cleaning up any of them is progress. DD
You could look at it that way or the country could actually implement the religious principles the correct way and the problems would drastically reduce. Neither will happen though unfortunately.
Not if they are implemented correctly. No, Saudi Arabia and Iran are not implementing them correctly. Currently, no one is and probably won't in the future.
Just to debunk this lie that FranchiseBlade keeps repeating: This data (and he must have seen it in another thread, because he was spouting his nonsense there as well) is actually from a report Mathloom brought up, because he thought it was supporting his argument: The full report can be found here (article): http://www.theatlantic.com/internat...-as-by-terrorism/258156/#.T8_ecHyMuW4.twitter and here (direct link to 46-page PDF): http://www.nctc.gov/docs/2011_NCTC_Annual_Report_Final.pdf Now, FranchiseBlade, PLEASE STOP REPEATING YOUR LIE. You keep repeating your lie because it fits your ideological bias. Do not close your eyes to the facts anymore. Just because you keep repeating a falsehood does not make it true.
You see DaDa says terrorists USE Islam, but in reality what he is saying is more nonsensical than anything any Muslim might believe - he thinks ISLAM is using terrorists lol. Moreover, he thinks religion and ideology have different utility, and different qualities. It is just a set of beliefs, and if you remove Islam, they will still find a set of beliefs, and that set of beliefs will guide their behavior of dealing with grievances. If they are bad people, those beliefs will be abused, if they are good people then the beliefs will not be abused. DaDa is in fact doing as the Quran commands: Such is the irony of ideological extremists who hate each other. They are often the same types of people who use different words and defend different geographic locations.
Right, because the millions of peaceful Muslims who abhor and denounce violence would be A-O.K. with their religion being banned. I'm sure they would remain peaceful and find terrorism just as distasteful if someone completely eradicated their religion.
Tell me about Indonesia and how dangerous it is. You're blaming a crux instead of PEOPLE. Basically racist.
I am not blaming people at all, I am saying that one of the causes is the inconsistent message. I am not for eradicating religion, I am however for it taking a backseat as a set of guidelines. There are many issues in that region, and the fanatic following of an inconsistent religion is one of them. DD
Religion out of balance is a problem. Islam, IMO is going through it's dark ages, where religious leaders gain power and screw things up for their followers. Eventually it will moderate, just like Christianity. DD
You should read up on the "religious police" in Indonesia. Also, remember the Bali terror attacks? Pretty sure they were not committed by Amish people.
Now the Amish people are the kinds of fanatics that one can approve of....they are only doing it to themselves...and leaving peacefully. Their religion is not one of forcing the spread to others - and I am pretty sure the penalty for leaving the Amish is not death as it is in Islam. DD
Actually, it just seems that is what is going on......and it is pretty much the only religion right now that is trying to run countries......and failing miserably at it, btw. DD
Wow. Islam does not call to force people to convert. It encourages spreading the message because Muslims believe it the right message and spreading something good is the right thing to do. I know many people don't believe it is a good message and so be it. It isn't the Muslims job to convert people. Forcefully converting is against Islam. The penalty for leaving Islam also isn't death.
Trolls are the problem. Eventually, they will meet a Muslim and realize that we aren't all evil terrorists.
I don't believe any human is inclined to be a terrorist - I do believe Islam is inherently flawed and easily manipulated though, and has been used as a vehicle to inspire the uneducated to do heinous acts in it's name. Same for Christianity - Jim Jones comes to mind..... BrownBeast - can you define Apostasy for me? The penalty for leaving Islam is death according to many Islamic scholars. DD
