I agree with that. You are focusing on the words and not what I did say. Management thought they had a championship in place to win those "game sevens" but they thought wrong. Now whose responsibility is that? Flawed logic and wrong evaluation.
Check the payroll. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2005.html Salaries Rk Player Salary 1 Tracy McGrady $14,487,000 2 Maurice Taylor $8,450,000 3 Clarence Weatherspoon $5,899,400 4 Juwan Howard $5,408,700 5 Dikembe Mutombo $4,496,434 6 Yao Ming $4,436,880 7 Matt Maloney $3,237,500 8 Bob Sura $3,200,000 9 Jim Jackson $2,420,000 10 Charlie Ward $1,700,000 11 Tyronn Lue $1,600,000 12 Bostjan Nachbar $1,493,880 13 Reece Gaines $1,454,640 14 Scott Padgett $807,546 15 Ryan Bowen $807,046 16 Andre Barrett $385,277
Giving 8.5 million to Taylor, and millions to Wspoon and JHoward was a major dilemma in itself...... Those accomplished nothing, 2nd to 4th on that pay roll
A coach is equally important in the quest for a championship No matter how those guys came about being on the roster, those teams had some terrible role players..... You knew at his best, Tmac never defended very well, so you might say he was a superstar, but not the best of the two way stars out there. In the end..... everything was flawed as was Dirk's team when he won the MVP and did nothing in the postseason I surely did not think we were necessarily championship bound back then.
the Rockets were flawed but they had a close series. they weren't suppose to lose like this though: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=/boxscores/200505070DAL.html&div=div_HOU_basic"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=/boxscores/200505070DAL.html&div=div_DAL_basic"></script>
Lose yes... get blown out no.... Anyway that were kind words ..... Players can only do that much Battier that is
