So I quote sources and you just throw back an unsupported opinion. Not surprised.

I would take Drummond in a heart beat. He will suck for a few years and we will continue to get some good talent through the draft while he develops. Drummond reminds me a lot of Bynum except he's more athletic.

If they really think there's is a 75% chance Williams goes to Portland, there wouldn't have been that much talk of Dragic in Portland during the season. The truth is nobody is confident about where Deron will end up.

Lowry and #14 for #6 would be alright.

Unsupported?? There's plenty of people who are of the opinion he's a bust.

Potential is probably the most misused, overused, and overexaggerated word in the dictionary. Potential is nothing if you don't have the brains and sack to turn it into something.

Remember james white...the dude that could dunk from the free throw line?? He had potential out of this world. Him and David Noel. Out of this world potential. Why aren't they in the NBA?

I don't always agree with Jopa but I'm with him on this one.

Those "sources" always slob the knobs of the prototypical 7 ft athletic specimens full of "potential". This is what made Thabeet the number 2 overall pick, Enes Kanter a number 3 overall pick, and we all know about Kwame Brown, Stromile Swift, Tyson Chandler etc.

A "penny stock" is a fair description for Drummond. We all want him to fulfill his potential and become the next D. Howard but the odds that he's the next Thabeet are equally as high.

Again you are just trying to argue with unsupported opinion. Opinion just that, opinion. You are never going to convince anyone of the virtues of your position with opinion.

Howard had all of the same issues coming out of high school. Cousins was a complete head case with serious attitude problems when he was drafted. Drummond is only 18 years old.

Perfect NBA candidates like Davis are obtainable only by luck. The Hornets perfectly tanked the season and now are faced drafting second when there is only 1 sure fire prospect in the draft.

I think it's pointless to argue about Drummond at this point. None of us have been to his workouts, and none of us has the ability to judge his potential fairly. Any leaked news about him at this point may simply be rumors to affect his draft stock.

It's safe to say the Rockets do have target(s) they like for moving up. And perhaps they have some sort of a framework deal done with the Blazers with the 6th pick, contingent on certain player dropping to that spot(similar to Gay for Battier trade). But there are no indication that said player is Drummond. And we likely would not know anything until at least draft day.

Remember it came out after the 2010 draft that Derrick Favors was Morey's target.. Don't think he minds gambling on young uber-athletic big men.

I'd do it. Losing Lowry would suck.. the guy is an awesome competitor and continues to improve each season. Would not surprise me if he popped in as an all-star reserve one of these seasons (funny if it was next year in Houston).

Gotta Roll the dice eventually though.. Get it done.

BONUS: Morey could do some work with those second rounders. He's been hanging out in Europe a lot.

Seems really fair IMO. A good trade.

Cousins was a beast in college. Drummon, not so much.

    Cousins - 15.1 ppg, 9.9 rpg
    Drummond - 10 ppg, 7.6 rpg

Also, Drummond played on a crap team. He should have scored 20 a game with his awful team and his dominating size. 7 points and 4 boards against WVU? 2 points and 3 boards against Iowa St in 26 minutes, as his team got knocked out of the tournament?????

    Pass on him.

And when you give your opinion, somehow it is on a different plain. Right. jopatmc could have given links to support what he said, but why should he in this instance? We've all read the same things in the media.

I watch 20-30 college basketball games a week. I watched UCONN play probably 7 or 8 times, what a disappointment. I went to the round of 32 game at the Yum! Center in Louisville, I lived there up until two weeks ago. Drummond is awful, and disappears at times. He is dominate when he wants to be, but he easily gets frustrated, fouls waaaaay to much, and is pretty awful at free throws (29.5%, no I am not kidding).

And BTW JTR, Cousins was not a complete head case when he was drafted. That is a giant rumor that got circulated around the internet because he had some run ins with authority in high school. He lost his cool once or twice playing at UK, but generally he was LOVED by the fans due to his playful nature and colorful character.

I played pick up ball with him during the lock out at the Blue Courts on UK's campus, he's hilarious. He's just a big playful kid.

They don't need cap space. If Deron decides he would like to go to LA the Nets will gladly take Bynum in exchange for him.

I think it has some to do about what you want him to do. If he goes to portland at 6 and they sign williams, resign batum, and use 11 on a really good 2,what do you need him to do? Williams and LA will get you 20 +, batum will get you between 13-17,matthews 13 or so and maybe the new sg 13 or so. What's left for him to do? Rebound, block shots, finish around the rim. They wouldn't need him to be the next shaq, hakeem,or even zo. They would need him to be more okefor than anything. If he turns out to be like okefor with the rest of that team, that would be gravy.

I feel like developing big men is McHale's specialty.. If he feels like Drummond has the tools then I think he should take the challenge and do what he was brought in here to do.

The feeling that D-Will would never, ever play in Portland perhaps?

I think if he turns out to be Okafor or Tyson Chandler that would be gravy not just for the Blazers but for any team that drafts him. I don't expect him to be the next great HOF center since as you know they only come around once or twice a decade if that. It may sound fundamental to rebound, block shots and finish around the rim but it's much harder to do that at the NBA level compared to college. I guess I'm just a bit wary of the "athletic-specimen full of potential big man" that doesn't have a particular skill that automatically transfers over to the NBA game. If he had any one of the following a higher basketball IQ, a decent jumper, or anything that resembled a post game I'd feel a bit more confident.

I realize the sample size is small with him but when he is prone to picking up fouls, shoots a mediocre 54% from the field and a pathetic 29.5% from the FT line it is what it is... a long term project that may not pan out especially if he struggles doing those things you mentioned which as I mentioned aren't so easy at the next level.
