I honestly believe the only way Morey drafts this guy in the first round is if another team wants to trade for him. Yeah, I follow the draft a little. Just a wee widdle bit. But I'm very narrow-minded and don't know much of nuth'n. So yeah I just focus on the pipe dream cuz I can see through the pipe.

No, DM is not trying for this kind of move. Beal maybe. But not Drummond. No way. Never. No way.

Just a simple question, why would the blazers draft drummond and go after d-will vs giving up picks for lowry?

    Because Drummond is gonna bust.

You wanna know why so many teams in between 2-7 are talking trade??? Because they know Drummond sux and they don't want to get castigated for passing on him if he actually turns into something 4 years down the road and they sure don't want to draft him and watch him bust like Humpty Dumpty and lose their jobs over him. Everybody is looking for a sucker to trade up and grab Drummond. Even the bad teams know he can't play.

Maybe they don't like Dummond and don't think they can land DWill? Plenty of teams will be after Deron this offseason, including his hometown Mavs and Brooklyn, who can pay him the most.

Only if he's there that is. I find it hard for a team let him slip pass them to the 6th pick. He is the best prospect in this years draft. I see Drummond much like I Andrew Bynum when he was drafted. Give him the right coaches and in time it'll pay off. Even if he doesn't pan out like we hope, he can easily still be a productive starter like a DeAndre Jordan just cause of his athleticism, strength and immense size at his position. Worth the gamble imo.

Big men like Drummond need lots of time to develop. LOTS of time. And even if he develops skills he might pull a Bynum. If his motor is the question that's a red flag. Trouble either way you look at it.

I think we're giving up too much but what the hell. I'll play.... considering our luck at the #14 has been rather unspectacular and we've had some luck with 2nd rounders by finding a gem in Parsons and a serviceable Bud.

Williams is not going to a sorry team. If brooklyn doesn't land howard, he's not staying there either. So that leaves dallas and portland. Hometown vs homeboy. 5 yr window vs 1 yr window. I'm not gonna bet, but I'm gonna say 75% chance williams goes to portland. I've heard about lopez also going to portland via trade draft night for one of those picks. Just saying. Portland didn't tank their season at the end for nothing. They did the right thing and are now about to be a power player in the west.

Did,you think he was after Cousins as has been widely reported? An equally bust able, more of a head case, less athleticism option?

DM might have crossed Drummond off his list of guys they want for specific reasons, but I doubt it.

Sorry, the only questionmark about Cousins was his attitude, not his bball skills. There's no comparison man. Cousins would and will eat Drummond alive. Cousins is a basketball player. He knows how to use his body. He knows how to get his shot. There's no comparison. And you see the growing pains Sacramento has had to go through with him. Now multiply all that by 10 and that's what you've got with Drummond. So, let him play. Otherwise, if you mothball him for 2 seasons, he's Hasheem Thabeet. (Oh, some people here still think he can play but poor Hasheem just hasn't gotten the chance yet.)

I think Cousins offensive skills is what intrigued Morey so much. His post game was light years ahead of the status quo when he came out. With Cousins although he was a head case you knew what he'd bring. I realize Drummond is super athletic and plays good D but how well is that going to translate and will he be able to develop his offensive game?

Drummond may have the most potential of anyone in the draft (see draftexpress, nbadraft, ESPN Insider etc). If you want to draft for a potential super star and not for a safe pick Drummond is your guy. But as others have said, he is going to take a couple of years to develop and the risk is high.

The Lakers are a real possibility too.

The risk is too high. Like buying a penny stock. About 1 in 1000 penny stocks actually increase in value. And then most of the time it is simply a small spike that lasts minutes or days at the most.

The Lakers do not have the cap room to sign a cheerleader.
