I'll admit I was blinded to how annoying Battier's "charge drawing" is until it wasn't in my team's favor.

    meh

I see that Shane has rustled your jimmies. I liked the guy when he was here and seeing him shoot the lights out in the finals is nice too.

    no it does not....

But remember that '07 Rockets with Battier had the best 5 man combo in the league that year (regular season). And 2nd best 4 man combo in plus/minus. Thats the definition of "win now". Too bad they couldnt "win MORE"

Of course it does. We had Mac and Yao in their prime, in their late 20's and a relatively large window to compete in (before injuries hit). Gay could have been Tmac Jr, but our priority then was to WIN NOW since we already had the franchise C and SG, not draft another project then wait 2-3 year while he develops.

Keep in mind Battier 5 years ago was much better than the Battier you see now, if Tmac and Yao weren't injured we could have had a pretty good run.

Still don't get the hate for Shane. He doesn't do anything that deserves hate other than the fact that he's not a talented offensive player by NBA standard.

No. Lebron is on Shane Battier's team and you people (and Lebron) just don't know it.

This has been Juwan Howard's team from the start.
Look how hard he's working to reverse the curse.

Battier has been playing out of his mind this Finals. 11/15 from three so far...

You said " Battier's play right now validates that move 1000x "

Bit of hyperbole there. Maybe only 2x

(thats why "no it does not") :)

I'm personally saying not ONE series does a "championship role player" make, considering his previous playoff ineptitudes. But if James Posey can go from scrub to "championship role player" based on ONE series or playoff run, then so can Battier. The winners write the scripts.

But there's no way to lose the "former player" argument really

    - If a player blows up big somewhere else, it means they were worthy of the investment you put in them cuz you saw the potentional, but it just "didnt work" where you're at
    - If a player BUSTS down somewhere else, you can say you got rid of "fools gold" or "sold high" or dumped them off RIGHT on time. And look like a great evaluator.

I'd rather someone like Terrance Williams beast somewhere than be a bust, to prove the investment was worth it in SOME capacity. But really whats it matter what OTHER people do with a player, its all about what YOU get out of it.

Don't worry the Heat will not win the title again this year. Those 3's will be not falling in the next two games and this series will go 7.

Battier's success is the only thing I like about the Heat. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.
