On the flip side Morey could be hedging his bets against the Marfanoid guys. Unlike Jeff Green, there is a 100% chance that people with gator arms won't have to sit out a season to have their aortic aneurysms repaired. My nominee by gator-arms criteria is Austin Rivers. Not particularly short arms, but 8'1 standing reach means he could be like Jon Scheyer and have the majority of his height reserved for his neck and head.
BUMP... Any more news about players the Rockets have been working out? Where are good sites to get this information?
Unlike most teams the Rockets do not comment on who they work out. (They don't even tell Mr. Feigen, just in case you were wondering if he's holding back information ). So Rockets fans will have to rely on agents spreading the word or players giving out the information in interviews. Hoopshype has a a workout list (http://hoopshype.com/workouts.htm), but again, as some teams like the Rockets do not comment on these matters the list is most likely incomplete. Here's what we know up to this point: Doron Lamb - interviewed Thomas Robinson - interviewed Kyle O'Quinn - interviewed Bernard James - worked out Marcus Denmon - worked out Tu Holloway - worked out Jesse Sanders - worked out Will Barton - worked out Mike Scott - worked out Tony Worten - workout scheduled Austin Rivers - workout scheduled Royce White - workout scheduled Quincy Miller - workout scheduled John Henson - workout scheduled I also think it's safe to assume that the Rockets interviewed some players, most likely including Evan Fournier at the Eurocamp.
Add Miles Plumlee to the list of players the Rockets will work out. Probably just one of many, but Plumlee is one of the few projected second rounders that I think are worth a flyer. That said, his stock seems to be rising and there's a chance he could go in the late first or very early second. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/sam_amick/06/14/henson.nba.draft.notes/index.html
Damian Lillard [rQUOTEr]Lillard has visited Toronto and Sacramento, in addition to Portland, for individual predraft workouts and has plans to visit Golden State and Houston.[/rQUOTEr]
Why are the Rockets keeping all the workout info away from the fans? Don't want anyone to figure out the secret player evaluation formula that led to the drafting of the likes of Busty Morris? Oh noes! Everybody will copy us! Oh noes!
Scott Howard-Cooper @SHowardCooper Henson said he is not planning to skip a workout to rest the ankle. His upcoming: Suns, Rockets, Bucks, Cavs, Raptors, Pistons, 76ers
Provided we stay at #14 and #16 I'd really like to take Rivers with the 14, and take a flier on Royce White with the #16.
Looks like John Henson and Arnett Moultrie are probably here for that big Monday workout mentioned in the other thread... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Headed back to Houston ! ✈</p>— John Henson(@_John_Henson_) <a href="https://twitter.com/_John_Henson_/status/214110511774703617" data-datetime="2012-06-16T21:41:38+00:00">June 16, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Airport Shawty....next stop Houston✈✈✈</p>— Arnett Moultrie (@amoultrie) <a href="https://twitter.com/amoultrie/status/214107474754674689" data-datetime="2012-06-16T21:29:34+00:00">June 16, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Andrew Nicholson was there for that workout this past Friday and it looks like Drew Gordon was there too... Is it just me or does anyone else get that feeling that John Henson will be Rocket on draft night. I got the same feeling last year with Motiejunas.
I want Henson. He's a project, but in terms of raw talent he's got it. The NBA is getting soft, but he's too soft. He's 6-10.5" in shoes and only weighs 216 pounds! He has a good wingspan. He should be a good shot blocker. I want him and Donny to train together if he's drafted.
Yeah, that's looking like a distinct possibility. Granted, as a GM, you can smoke-screen this and smoke-screen that, and leak workout news to the media, and help hype up a player so that whomever you want will fall to you.... But Henson said, "Back to Houston." Maybe others will have/are getting a second workout tomorrow, but two workouts would tend to tell me there is interest in John Henson. This doesn't mean we'll draft him or even keep him. Might be some other team interested where we make a trade. But if we draft him to keep him, well, talk about a logjam at the 4 (Scola, Ppat, DMo), even if Morey sends him to the beloved NBA Graveyard----er, Developmental League. You'd probably have to trade one of Ppat or Scola at the least. DMo isn't signing here to get zero courttime. Ah, yes.....and it does seem we're definitely in the market for shot-blocking athleticism. (Moultrie, Henson.) No surprise there.
Henson is preparing for the draft in Houston. He's working with John Lucas. He's essentially stationed out of Houston right now. It's most likely not a reference to a second workout with the Rockets.
Henson is or at least was working out with John Lucas in Houston, so him tweeting "Back to Houston" doesn't have to mean he's already worked out for the Rockets.
Jesse Sanders is impressive in the hightlights and stats. He's not even on draftexpress second round mock picks, but I think he'd be worth a first round pick.
