Something tells me this party will not end well. Will be a mediocre party. A Maurey party.

    Uninteresting? Really?

Of course, I don't attend because every year during the draft I want to throttle someone -- usually Morey -- for making a really stupid draft choice (like Marcus Morris) or a really stupid trade (like Rudy Gay).

I was gonna go until I heard they were just showing Tron on a continuous loop.

    #morey

(actually, i might go and take my son so he can wear his Lowry jersey meaningfully for the last time)

Yea but I don't want to commit until I know the direction of the team is going. I'm not going to commit to 16 games if we roll out the same squad. Nor would I want to commit to 16 games of watching the Rockets suck....I mean rebuild.

Before people go to the draft party at Toyota Center and then boo whoever the Rockets pick if it's not who you wanted them to pick, just remember this:

In 1992, the Rockets had the #11 overall pick in the draft and had a big draft party at The Summit. Tons of fans were there (I wasn't). When the #10 pick came and went with Harold Miner still on the board, Rockets fans at The Summit started chanting "Baby Jordan!" (Miner's nickname). Then David Stern stepped to the podium and said, "With the 11th pick of the 1992 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select . . . Robert Horry, center from Alabama."

Well, The Summit just filled with boo after merciless boo. The fans were irrate. They wanted Miner, and the Rockets screwed up royally in their minds by selecting some joker from Alabama. It was a disgrace.

Well, . . . we see how THAT turned out, didn't we? ;)

Here's hoping that little story will allow some of you attending to give the Rockets' front office the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the guy(s) they pick will turn out a lot better than you thought.

I was there that night, Bima. With 3 friends. I didn't boo, but was disappointed they didn't draft Miner. Clearly, I was wrong and they were right. It went like you said.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt last season on Morris...I was at Beck's Prime Sportatorium in Memorial City Mall with my older son sitting at the table next to Mo Taylor and his family. They announced the pick and I had a confused look on my face....Mo looked at me smiled and shrugged.

I trust that on draft night they know more than I do....but sometimes my guess pans out better than their educated pick.

i was there when we drafted rudy gay. the whole tc was on their feet when we were on the clock and the crowd cheered loud as hell when we picked them. moment later when they saw the proposed trade to the grizzlies every single person booed and most of them left.

i went to the aaron brooks one at dave and busters and most people wanted big baby or CDR (i wanted cdr) and when stern said aaron brooks, most people booed.

i went to the nicolas batum one and most people didnt know who he was. i knew who he was from researching him and thought it would be a great pick, but we all know what happened afterwards.

i went to the patrick patterson one at house of blues and i cheered for the pick. i actually forgot he was still on the board when we picked. lol

Dunno about the actual draft, but I was with a group for the lottery, and the group was pretty upset we won, because it meant we were getting the 'giant stiff'.

Yep. You and me, both. But I guess even a broken clock's right twice a day!

Hell, based on the times I've "vehemently disagreed" with a Rockets draft pick, had I been the GM, we would have had:

    Josh McRoberts over Aaron Brooks
Not traded for the pick to draft Carl Landry
Kawhi Leonard over Marcus Morris BUT would then not have bought back the #38 pick to draft Chandler Parsons

So, in the end, I think my disagreements with the Rockets' front office have taught me that, no matter how much research I do, I won't know as much as they do, and I should give those guys the benefit of the doubt.

I was there for the Rudy Gay debacle.

It was no mistake that JVG scooted off that stage before the Rockets #8 pick as quick as (warning: Southern cliche approaching )a greased rattlesnake going downhill with a 100 mile per hour wind at his back.

    The place erupted in boos.

It's always fun to go even if we're picking low or draft stupidity

Wonder why they aren't going to have Lowry, Martin, or Dalambert there for the festivities.

I want to do something fun like boo it like Jets and Eagles fan.

Even if we trade and draft for the unibrow, I'd like to boo it too.
