Agreed. At least suspend or ban them like the judges of the Williams-Lara debacle. What I don't get is why the dont have a quality group of judges that they can rotate between for big fights. Like how the NBA and NFL has their best refs do the playoffs. There really needs some type of governing body. Not just for judging, but to implement things mandatory random drug testing. If not year round, at least for the entire duration once a fight is signed. With two quality fights already being canceled due to failed drug test, 2012 has not been a good year for boxing. But maybe all this negativity leads to positive changes.
Late to the discussion, but I also did the same afterwards. Sound off, didn't watch the slowmo punches from pac in between rounds. Bradley did fight a tough fight, and many rounds were close, but most still scored for Pacquiao to me. I ended up scoring the fight like you guys, 116-112, ie 8 rounds to 4.
MMA is the way to go now. I used to love boxing, but now it is so boring. Just my opinion. Btw I used to fight MMA, my boxing career was very short. 1 and done. I couldn't use my leg kicks or knees and was beat.
Pacquiao weened himself off steroids and lost. Why is everyone making such a big deal? Man on Man Action?
why dont they just show the judges' scores after each round? that way boxers will know when to cruise or turn it up in the later rounds
To all who are saying this robbery is the reason to turn to MMA... um MMA's judges also suck. Fukuda Pham KZ Shogun Rua Machida Kappman and Diazes Not to mention, a perfectly "technical" fight in MMA :cough GSP is usually boring as heck too.
Watching the fight for the 2nd time on HBO right now, and while I hd Pacquaio winning and still do, holy crap the announcers are biased towards Pac. They consistently ignored quality punches and combos that Bradley did land while they'd nearly orgasm over every "straight left hand!" by Pacquiao. At one point early in a round Bradley landed 4 punches in a combo and the announcers sat there silent, then about 10 seconds later he throws a short flurry, misses, and of em yells in excitement "that one got blocked!" Bradley fought alot better than people gave him credit for and this was alot closer than some of y'all are leading on. And Pac was definitely penalized for doing nothing but keep his block up and eat an occasional punch for the first two minutes of each round. All that being said, Pac still clearly hurt Bradley wayyyyy more than Bradley hurt Pac. But Bradley still boxed better than Pacquiao in close to half the rounds, I would say he won 4 or 5, could maybe understand giving him 6, but I think awarding him 7 rounds is kinda crazy. I blame the crappy scoring system, though, personally. I feel like the early rounds that Pac dominated should count for more points than the close rounds that were given to Bradley. That woulda made Pac the clear winner.
Great fight, more impressed with Chavez Jr. than I expected. That dude is tough and he was throwing some bombs.
Yeah I used to doubt the kid early on but this fight was a wake up call to me. He has an iron jaw and stone hands. Very scary.
If this doesn't make me feel more like it was rigged, I don't know what will. I think Arum's catching so much heat, that he decided might as well move for Pacquiao v. Marquez IV rather than anything Bradley related. This is dumb...but I'm more likely to watch than Pacquiao v. Bradley. Then on the flip side, he'll run an Amir Khan v. Bradley...which I'd also watch. Arum you smug, smart b*stard. Good thing you don't get any of my money.
sounds like Arum is really pushing Pacquaio to retirement. I'm sure Marquez will go for the kill this time. But it will be an entertaining match - toe2toe.
I doubt Marquez will win it. Manny is **** outta luck anywhere he fights apparently, so he's gonna have to go for a KO. I think he can go KO Marquez if he doesn't allow him to maintain that range where he can move and counterpunch. He's gonna have to smother him and turn it into a brawl like Diaz did with Marquez.
