just to play devil's advocate here...isn't Tyreke's game the same style of play that won Derrick Rose an MVP? there is no argument who the better player is...but it just goes to show, given the right surroundings Tyreke could find some success.

Yes, but Evans lack a key ability necessary to dribble the ball forever, one that ball-hoggers like Lebron, Rose, T-Mac, Kobe, etc. all have, the ability to pass.

I was suddenly looking back through the thread to see someone having posted "sources say such-and-so team trying to trade for Evans", which I didn't find, so just curious.

Yeah, and Dragic at one point was thought not to really be a point guard but more of a combo guard because he played too outta control and with the mentality to look to score for himself. Things change, especially with a young player who is still learning his own game and how best to use it at the highest level.
Steve Kerr and David Griffin really believed in Dragic's potential. It took an injury and a new front office to change that view in Phoenix.
Maybe Tyreke Evans would have a better apg if he had better talent around him? Also less turnovers since he wouldnt NEED to force the issue? I think if we take a risk on him and surround him with good talent, he will flourish
It is more then just the surroundings, a large part is the player's mindset. That being said, Sacramento hasn't had a lot of good coaching or culture to surround him with. But the guy isn't a rookie or sophomore at this point and outside of Scola if we don't resign Camby, we don't have any leaders that might be able to get him on the right track. Still, I'd give up Lowry and maybe even the 16th or some other later pick for him. Provided we resign Camby.
we're not goin for Evans only..he comes with the 5th pick...other options would be the 5th with Salmons or Garcia
I'd trade Lowry for him straight up. Win-win for both teams IMO. Although I'd rather do something like Evans AND the #5 for Lowry, Ppat, #14,#16,Bud. Pick Barnes or Drummond.
Yes. Things do change. Dragic improved in his 2nd year from his rookie year and at least on a per-minute basis(he was still Nash's backup then), played almost as well as he did this year. Injuries aside, Dragic followed the normal development path where he incrementally improved year after year. Evans has played worse as his career went on.
If there is one good thing to take away from this past season from Tyreke, it's that he finally started to realize just how bad he is at shooting 3-pointers. In his first 40 games, he shot a total of 83 three pointers. In his last 23 games, he shot 16. That resulted in a much better FG% (51% shooting in the last 23 games, as opposed to 42% in his first 40). If he keeps that mentality, I think he's going to significantly improve next season.
Tyreke Evans is a good for a team that is almost entirely inept offensively. Charlotte, Detroit, or Orlando. He'd also be good for a contender or a playoff team, especially if he knew what the deal would be playing for a team, like the Celtics, Clippers, or Jazz. I wouldn't say he's a complete misfit for the Rockets. Even with his trigger happy shooting and ball-hog mentality, they have no players on the roster who can create and beat players consistently off the dribble, while also hitting contested shots. When you don't make the playoffs in the NBA (East or West), you've either had a boatload of injuries or you have alot of work to do. Our roster is closer to being a gigantic work in progress versus perfected. I've said before every position should be up for grabs, maybe outside of SF and PG, but even then if the right player comes on the market (those positions should be open as well).
